Storm coach Craig Bellamy has agreed to stay with the Storm as coach for the next two years and could remain at the club beyond then.

The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield told NRL360 on Fox League that Bellamy had the scope to stay at the club for at least five years, with the potential to move upstairs at the Storm.

Bellamy was linked to roles with the Sharks and Broncos over the last 12 months but looks set to become a one-club coach on a deal worth $1.2million per year.

“Craig Bellamy has agreed to a new long-term contract at the Melbourne Storm and it will be signed tomorrow,” Rothfield said.

“It’s an interesting contract – it could go five years or longer.

“He’s agreed to coach for the rest of this year and next year but there’s no certainty after that. If he doesn’t coach after 2022, he will go into a director of football role and appoint his own man as the coach.”

Bellamy had spoken about the opportunity to retire to Queensland in the next few years, with his daughter based on the Gold Coast.

But the deal with the Storm will ensure he remains in Melbourne for the next two seasons at least.

We'll only see Cheese in the blue and white if he genuinely wants to play hooker or wants an extra 200-300k. If the Storm play Cheese over Grant at hooker then apply that same logic to Grant.

LOLLL I said months ago the Cheese was NEVER coming to the Bulldogs.
He literally said that he only ever wanted to return to QLD to be with family and that’s also where his partners family was from too.

Cheese will stay at Storm and play 13 is my guess. Less money but more success than anywhere else.

I reckon we are in with a shot of signing Paps when he becomes available.

well done to the Storm... Bellamy has been great for them - one of the greatest ever - and should finish with them

as for Brandon Smith and Harry Grant, the equation remains the same IMO... they are both FG starting dominant hookers and there has to be significant compromise (eg. money, minutes, playing out of position) for them to remain at the Storm together

Storm have gone from having the best hooker ever, to having the top two hookers in the game. Meanwhile some clubs (us) haven't had a an NRL standard hooker for over 5 years LOL

He is one concussion away from retirement, had months off for the last one.
And played like it last run, looked very tentative. You can't play this game with doubt or it'll really hurt ya.
