I'm absolutely thrilled that the selectors have noticed something completely obvious............That Ben Creagh is a fking hoax.

Brett White must postpone wedding to join Kangaroos tour

October 08, 2009

It is an argument that could divide Australia along gender lines.

Should Brett White postpone his wedding to fiancee Cassie Adland to join the Australian rugby league squad for the Four Nations tournament in England and France?

He can't do both.

And despite the "happy wife happy life" adage, White looks set to disappoint his fiancee by asking to postpone their October 17 nuptials at Kiama to fly out to London 24 hours earlier with the Kangaroos.

Already a villain in Queensland, NSW prop White is prepared to alienate himself from female fans by disappointing the woman he loves to realise a childhood dream.

As a rookie on the team, White is reluctant to seek special treatment from coach Tim Sheens by flying out after his wedding.

"It looks like I'm going to have to make a phone call later on to one very disappointed fiancee I think," said White.

"I will probably go to the florist and buy her a big bunch of flowers and talk to her about it.

"I'm here and I want to play. I will do everything that is right by the team.

"I don't know if it can happen but apparently I might get divorced before I get married."

The problem for White is that Adland has been planning their wedding for well over a year, well before the Four Nations tournament dates were released midway through the 2009 NRL season.

"She has been planning it for a long time, about 12 months ago she started planning it," said White.

"It was well before and we didn't even realise this was on.

"She didn't actually say those words (congratulations). She didn't really say anything."

White joked Adland "didn't have much faith in me", but the truth is the NSW forward probably wouldn't be in the Test side if Melbourne hadn't won the NRL premiership last week.

But White's decision could be taken out of his hands as early as Friday, with the 27-year-old to meet a specialist over his shoulder injury.

White is confident he can carry the injury through the tour and next season, but he may be ruled out of the squad by Sheens who is refusing to carry injured players in the tournament.

"I've got no concerns with it, it's just seeing if we can put off having to do it for 12 months," said White.

"I don't even know if I need surgery, I haven't really heard. I have to talk to the specialist about that and see what is going on.

"It's not affecting me at the moment, (delaying treatment until the end of 2010) would be my plan."
