Now that finale was DEFINITELY better than that cruddy waterfall. Was that so hard to do all these years FFS???

I think they tend to overuse the bridge... so it was nice to see it and Opera House included, but not overly focussed on this year.

Update on what I mentioned the other day, they are commissioned/organised by City of Sydney council (official organiser), but granted by State Governments.
Good read here about the contract details: https://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/285619/1704.pdf

"Fireworks displays for 2017 and 2018 Sydney New Year's Eve (with option to extend for 2019 - 2021)"
Contract amount over term: $5,373,500 inc GST

Hold on... am I interpreting this correct... that's a little over $1,000,000 for 5 years? I thought it was something like $5,000,000 per year?!

Well Contract Period is 2 years, with potential to extend another 3, so I'd say it's $5.3 million over 2 years, and if extended it'll be another contract.

Don't buy into the hype.
You should do my trick and avoid watching as much t.v as possible.

The less television you watch, the better it is for your mental health.

I agree with this.. it's the same every year.. a few early bombs, the waterfall thing off the bridge, the little fuzzy party poppers and then all guns blazing at the end.. yawn

Alright let's see what kind of 8 minute Covid crap-fest we're in for this year.

Hey idiots,

Every f**king year, you say you're going to put on the "best fireworks display ever" and it turns out to be the same shit every year.

You want to be unique and original, DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

Sincerely,

Wah35h!
One of the best rants on the kennel. The government jump on the bandwagon and hype it 'bigger and better than ever before' lol

Wow, nice to see an extremely politically left-viewed take on fireworks with the Aboriginal music and lighting effects. How shit were they?

What's the go with them this year? What made them different from the usual lame arse attempt to mesmerize people?
