We have Shoupp coming back who will improve the defence on the left side, but Burton needs to aim up because he’s notorious for getting off the line and then just standing there flat footed, he’s been getting exposed on this lately.

im very concerned about the right side defence though. Burns can’t defend to save his life, his injuries have affected his ability to move laterally.
Kiraz and Allen is honestly when we looked the best defensively on the right. Casey is also not great defensively

and Corey waddell has to go. He’s too much of a liability in defence and attack, gives away spastic penalties and is always good for an error or two. He sticks out like a sore thumb, even Stimson has improved heaps and has become very reliable for us

It's weird because I'd rather be a good attacking side, and shit at defense, than the other way round. At least it's more entertaining to watch but yeah some of those tries we conceded were putrid
I agree.
It's funny, coz if WE score the try that Ilias scored or the last Johnston try from the bomb, we would praise our guys for being brilliant and won't even think about the defence but when we concede the try from those plays, people immediately try to stick the boot in.

No doubt Avo and JAC will learn from the indecision on the first try. I still don't think the guys made the wrong decision on the bomb. They just failed to wrap up or barrel Tass into touch and allowed him to get a freak pass away. It was brilliant (flukey) play by them to score that try rather than poor defence.

Attack was our best for a while but again I lost count of the amount of times we got in each others way and ruined good opportunities. Our halves are also like headless chooks half the time and the outside backs haven't got a clue what they're going to do. Continual injuries to our three-quarters hasn't helped. Attacking kicks also need to improve. It's much more positive than negative though cause the cohesion will come with time and our attack is looking good to keep improving. The extra speed is visible and most of our work in their 20 isn't just mindless dribble anymore.

Our amateurish defensive lapses after scoring tries for me were about on-field leadership and not defensive ability or coaching. We weren't mentally in those moments and finding a new captain next year is the first thing our new coach should do. Surely Gus can help Jacko see reality.

I hope potter or whoever the incoming coach is can help improve MB's defence as we've seen he has the courage just needs to improve his technique.

Naa...we had them even with Latrells brilliance. Inexperienced wing centre combo beat us twice....very dumb.

What about defence?
Against the eels and tigers it was very good. Pretty decent against the sharks too. Rabbitohs are a quality side, and can put a cricket score on any team, so im not too concerned. Allthough the late fade out was not great.

Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Adam Reynolds and Damien Cook is there team. When they all leave their gonna be shit.

Walker will be 33 when his contract ends next year.

Cook will be 32 when his contract ends next year.

Latrell will be the only player to play long-term with Souths or either sign with another club.

Reynolds has left already thank god.

Correction... 2 man team. The ref's errors gave Souths all their points in the 1st half & Mitchell only played well for a 20 minute period.

Great summation.

Jacko does not have the leadership qualities to command a Top 8 team for next year's campaign.

When the chips are down you need a leader who can pull something extraordinary out of the bag. A go to captain who can galvanise the team to go above and beyond and have respect and weight held by their presence by refs. Jacko is not that guy.

Possibly but of what we have next year I'd go with Reed.

Players who can influence a game. Inspire with a great run or tackle or calm yet commanding.

The team needs leaders willing to get in opposition faces... including the ref.

Need to kick to the 10m x 10m box instead of just high all the time, wearing thin.

We just need conformation from Annesley when we are aloud to employ illegal tactics to slow the ptb down to a crawl like the nrl darlings
It did annoy me how quickly we are called to get off the tackled player, while our opponents are allowed to lie all over us.

Yeah Kiraz at Centre and Allan at wing. I thought that too. Doesn't help that Waddell is on the right side as well. Flanno has impressed in defence though. Puts his body on the line.
