Do you guys think we should restrict voting to uni grads? Would certainly shore up the left wing vote. Fuck those proles, they'd just vote for Trump and Brexit. They clearly arent sophisticated enough for democracy.

Democracy will never work well. Everyone is prone to believing misinformation and the ones who win are the ones who tell the most convenient lies.

But as a system, is much better than the alternative.

Anyone studying at a major US college or working for a major college, is far less likely to support conservative ideas because conservative ideas are not supported by corporates or colleges.

The one stat that I've always found interesting that is consistent in many countries including Australia and the US is that those that vote right are more likely to have an economics education and those that vote left are more likely to have a science education.

I wouldn’t call it brainwashing, I’d just call it selective teaching where teachers and college professors often only give one side or a biased version of the story.

it also doesn’t help when entire swaths of faculty and teaching all share the exact same political beliefs. For starters it’s not very ‘diverse’ and it makes for kids who lack the ability to think critically and unable to comprehend someone may share a thought which differs from theirs.

Compulsory voting is best form of democracy, as everyone has to be engaged in what is going on, and what affects them. If they choose to be ignorant of the politics affecting them - that is their choice; but why give someone else the right to speak for you?

If we are to be part of society, we need to engage with it. To opt out is to hand the decision making to others, who may not do what you think is best. Hard to complain about governments if you let others elect them for you.

Lemonade Stand Paid More Tax, Made More Profit, Than All Of Donald Trump’s Businesses Combined

A small lemonade stand in suburban Connecticut paid more tax last year than all of Donald Trump’s businesses combined, which its 9 year-old owner says is reasonable given her business was more profitable.

Grace Herriford, 9, says failing businesses can’t be expected to pay as much tax as a well-run operation like hers. “Look, some people just aren’t good at business, and they’re going to struggle to turn a profit. So it makes sense that they don’t pay as much tax. It’s not Mr Trump’s fault that he doesn’t know how to turn a profit”.

She said running successful businesses just isn’t one of Mr Trump’s fortes. “If he were in charge here, he’d want to spend thousands of dollars on haircuts and change the name to Trump Lemonade and it would immediately lower the value of the business by millions of dollars”.

While Ms Herriford’s lemonade stand did make a profit last year, she wanted to be clear that she does have a loan owing to her mother worth $14 – around $439,999,986 less than the loans owed by the Trump Organisation.
