Absolutely. If the nrlol was set for expansion by adding 1 new team, it was a moronic move to do it in an nrl stronghold. It gets no new fans or players. Or more importantly games per week, by which the nrlol could increase revenue by broadcast rights ,which starting in Perth would. Pre super league, the western reds were successful. There's no reason to think it wouldn't be again. There are plenty of expat Kiwis, New South Welshman QLDers in the mining sector in WA to make it viable I reckon. It has to be the 18th teamIt's long overdue that Tassie gets an AFL team.
The NRL wouldn't work there. It's an AFL town. The NRL is better off trying to get a Perth team which actually has an appetite and the infrastructure for league there.
No money and not enough big business in Tassie to support an AFL or NRL Club.It was always an AFL/VFL stronghold, but was neglected. It's a missed opportunity for the nrl to a degree
