How do you grieve for Superman? - A poem about Adam Elliott
How do you grieve for Superman?
Once
I was uninhibited and free -
Feeling the breeze on my naked body,
Helicoptering with glee as I leapt and bounded through the yucca plants
How do you grieve for Superman?
Cast out
Launched as if my catapult,
Hurtling towards the water like
My hero hurtling towards a trembling defensive line
How do you grieve for Superman?
Plonk
Into the murky waters of the Cape of No Hope, I plunge -
Embrace of the sea as cold as my dead heart
I slowly submerge, shaking hands with the Kryptonite of loss
How do you grieve for Superman?
Alone
A submerged and long forgotten island
In the desolate blue with no white in sight
I have no team, for they don't play football in Hell
The end
