Yeah let start with the salary cap cheating clubs before we target a club that coaches well and purchases well.

On what grounds? That they win games?
On the grounds, they are irrelevant because everybody hates them, and only turncoats support them.
Can you imagine the Sydney Swans winning that crappy afl game nearly every year. #Get rid of Melbourne Storm.

I don’t believe that any other club cheating the Cap can ever come remotely close to Melbourne’s 2 contract rorting, that scam was beyond anything anyone else has done. Coordinated, deliberate, requiring multiple participants, fraud of the highest order, for 5 farkin years and without doubt the NRL crime of the century. As if that wasn’t enough, they backed it up with a luxury boat for the player with the biggest rort, new car for the wife and house renovations paid for, talk about arrogance and protected species.

Their #2 stain on the game, the tackle shit, they invented them, all of the grubby stuff, turned them into an art form and benefitted off them for years, until other teams had had enough and started copying them. Once that happened the NRL had no choice but to take action. FWits should have stopped it before it spread, yet another protected species example.

Melbourne’s shit hasn’t stopped, they are still inventing new ways to cheat, and we can‘t expect the NRL to do anything about it.

The Storm experiment began to try winning new fans outside of rugby league heartlands. In my opinion if the NRL weren't still trying to make an impact down there they'd cut out half the crap Melbourne get away with.

In the end I don't think they're actually converting AFL fans, just slowly seeing converts from other league fans following them. Quite possible that it's actually counter productive to have a team that is based so far from traditional league supporters dominating for years. Pisses me off that they push the rules every year and are widely praised for it by commentators. It's basically a situation where they're praised for cheating very well IMO.

In fairness, with all the wrestling stuff, Storm behave grubbily each year but act within whatever the rules are at that time. The problem is that the NRL rules are poorly defined and it constantly has to play catch-up with teams who find ways to exploit those rules.

From top to bottom everyone in the melbourne organization do their job better than anyone else in the comp.Watching the storm adapt to the rule changes and go from a middle third power based grinding side to the best attacking side in the game in the space of a few months has been amazing to watch. They will beat penrith in a trot if they play them in the GF with or without cleary.Bellyache is the GOAT coach IMO.

Bellamy is on the NRL rules committee, he had a head start over every other coach but Stuart, he's on it too.

If that was such an advantage it didn't help Ricky much, and not being on that committee has not phased Trent Robinson either. The fact is the storm had to make the biggest adjustment to the new rules of any team in the comp, it was a complete 180 from the style of football they where playing and they did it better than any other club.

You can look at it that way, but the fact is they have a number of "strike" players and this rules change/interpretation suites strike players more than anyone else. Grant AND Smith from dummy half, tell me they aren't perfectly suited to the way the game is played. Hughes was a nobody, a 25 year old with a handful of NRL games, but under these rules he's a superstar. Munster, Papenhuyzen, JAC, Hynes are all suited to the current game. A reverse example, Finuncane, he's not really suited to this game as he gets older and more expensive, so Bellamy moves him on.

It also suites Bellamy's recruiting process which has always been spine first, he now has a rule set that suites his spine much more than previous, Papenhuyzen, Hughes, Munster, Grant and Smith. He started coaching them to suite the new rules last November when he knew they were coming because V'Landys was pushing them. He promoted Hughes and coached him to the new rules, who let's face it was pretty shit under the old rules.
