I thought they said mild dimentia. I havent read the facts, was she actually in a dementia ward?
I dont understand why nursing staff working in dimentia would call the police. They would be ringing police daily with the shit they see in a dimentia ward if that was the case.
And the naked part. Surely it would be the nursing staff and not the police removing clothing. Nurses disregarding their duty of care knowing that everything from the incident will be written up?
It all seems very strange.
I agree. It's on Sky about the clothing. I know they aren't a good news source and there's a few different details to be cleared up.

Anyone who has had any experience in nursing homes have several doubts and fears about this very sad happpening. It's a monumental failure all round on many fronts.

Its hard to know what to think without the facts.
Its alarming that the police commissioner cant find the time or give a fuck enough to view the footage of a 95 year old that died after being tazered by a police officer.

When its all said and done, we dont want this to ever, ever happen again. If that was my Mum or Grandmother I would be changed for life with the pain of the way she was treated by those employed to protect and serve including the nursing home, the nursing home regulators as more details come out how they failed all but 1 of the care criteria (they were given a chance to be retested 2 weeks later according to 7.30 Report) and the cop himself, police procedures and the Commisioner and the Police Minister.

For sure.
All nurses that I have met that work in dimentia have been awesome.
I also know that not all nurses are and that some nursing homes are run understaffed because they are more concerned with profit.
Anywhos, Ill try and catch up on that 7:30 report after I watched these clowns running around in blue and yellow.

Was a couple of nights ago...maybe Thurs/Wed night.

A lot of staff are underpaid. One nurse/carer I volunteed alongside 2 years ago said her 16 y.o. daughter got paid more than her in retail!

The mum has to feed, wipe people's bums, shower includung after faecal accidents, wake up and dress resis which can be back breaking work on yiur own and get them off to bed when they don't want to at 7pm after eating at 4.30-5pm, assess them and pick them up using inflatible mattress if they fall, make sure they wear head gear, and keep it on, if they are susceptible to falling over, use hoists for immobile ...all for $22 an hour....her 16 y.o. was getting $24 as a junior shop assistant she said.

I personally think it was a big mistake to privatise aged care and farm our elderly out to care for profit souless run, strictly business orientated care where people are just a $8 a head meal cost per day...it used to be $6!

By all accounts it was a high end place. I saw the old duck sky diving on the news? Her family deserves blame. They could have taken care of her, not palmed her off to underpaid staff and outsourced muscle in the police.

Nope

Yallambee Lodge was built and opened in 1995. It is a 40 bed aged care facility with 38 permanent beds and 2 respite beds. All rooms are private with ensuite. The hostel includes beautiful gardens and open shared spaces for activities and socialising.

She skydived 15 years ago for a special birthday celebration with majority of her family there at the landing site celebrating her achievements with a party for her.

Exactly there's like 50 people there they should have saved the skydiving money and bought her a nice room in one of their homes. We leave the elderly to rot, or in this case get 18 watts to the chest

Seems to be some conjecture about "dementia ward" or "slight dementia".

If the lady had been assessed by ACAT, and she would have been to be admitted, then she would have been tested for dementia.

If she had any dementia the duty of care is high bc people cannot be normally allowed free rein around the facility bc they can leave and harm themselves.

I once was driving home from my volunteering and found a resi walking with her wheelie walker some 2 kms up the road from the home. This lady was not from the dementia cottage I volunteered at. I stayed with her and called them and a nurse manager came and got her in her own car. This happened a few times to me over the 8 years I was there. My own mother started with slight dementia and I had to put her in for respite for myself as I had a weeks holiday booked. Because she had dementia, she went outside and they said they couldnt take the risk of having her again bc they only have frail and elderly and dementia patients are a whole different category of assistance and supervision.

Dementia is a fluid thing. People can be fine one minute and you wouldn't know they had it. Next thing you know they want to go out at night, put on different coloured shoes, won't groom themselves, can't feed themselves one day bc they "forgot" and next day ok again but it's generally a slow incremental process.

I don't know this lady's state of health but any dementia patient should be in a secure area where they can't get out and wonder off for they own safety.

Yes thats all our sentiments.

As more comes out and media start muddying the waters, we are all just guessing about these details.

All we know is an elderly lady died by being tasered in a nursing home which seems unbelievable but yet it happened.
