The cops should be sacked

An elderly woman with dementia has been rushed to hospital after she was tasered by police inside her aged care home.

The 95-year-old woman is believed to have been found holding a knife at the Yallambee Lodge in Cooma, sparking a call to police before the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

Quite heartbreaking, but you can't really fault the Police in this case. What are you supposed to do when you have someone not themselves and refusing to disarm? 95 or not, a knife is a knife.

Bigger issue is how a 95 year old with dementia was in possession of a knife in the first place.

She was standing with her walking frame as well, could have used that in a 1-2 knife, frame attack. Surely someone with a broom/mop could have knocked it out of her arm, how fast does a 95yo move?

Not to mention knowing what a taser does to bullish young men, to even consider using it on a 95yo female..

She may have only been diagnosed with dementia. She wasn't in a locked ward by the sounds of it.

So wasn't under 24/7 supervision.

You absolutely can fault the police on this. An electric shock like that could easily cause a heart attack in someone that age. It's the definition of excessive force. If the cop that did this doesn't lose his job there's a problem with the system.

This is fucked up on so many levels. If cops can't take down a 95 year old woman without having to use a taser, they are definitely in the wrong industry.

That's just piss weak tbh. Seems like the cops they hire these days just seem to be "soft".
