Was out at the Wests v Raiders SG ball match yesterday at Camden .. one of the boys who use to play with my son that was picked up by Canberra was walking around in civy’s and not in the playing squad, he was in the team last week.. he wasn’t injured and wasn’t in Raiders gear, sadly he may have been one of the 4.. he hasn’t turned 18 yet .. his older brother was a talented player at one time, his career wrecked by alcohol.. such a waste ...
That's interesting. Where did/ does your son play?

He played 9 seasons at the Narellan Jets, from 5 to 13’s years , and 1 season at Campbelltown Collegians (u14s) ... however he has also been
playing Union since the 12’s .. training 4 days a week and 2 games, sometimes 3 backing up for older age groups each weekend was taking its toll, he broke his collar bone more to fatigue than a one off impact, seeing him in the hospital all busted up, we came to the realisation that playing 6 days a week wasn’t working, so we made him choose one, he chose Union has been doing the 1 code for the last 3 years and is
trying to workout this year if he plays 18’s, colts or 2nd grade?? ...
The footy community is pretty tight out here, most of the boys have cross coded or played together or against each other at one stage, he
is still best mates with guys in the SG Ball and Laurie Daley cup sides. The guy at Canberra played with him at Collies and at the Rams and with the Illawarra rep squad (Union) in the under 14’s.. Wests stuffed him around and the Raiders
signed him and a few other wests boys up in the 15’s.. they would even pick them up from Campbelltown to take him to training .. this year he has moved down there full time ...
Got to say one thing , so many of the boys
my son had played with are being chewed up
and spat out, plenty of juniors aren’t playing
anymore after sustaining really serious injuries, even the ones still playing are spending weeks
off the paddock with broken bones and ligament damages.. even at junior level, it’s a brutal sport ... these kids are tough ...

Some of the Keebra Park boys that have moved down here from the Gold Coast for SG Ball and Jersey Flegg this year have found the training alone pretty full on, there have been some head clashes at training leading to boys sitting out Round 1.
All reports say that this years boys recruited to live in the Doggies house have their heads screwed on and understand they are here to represent not only themselves but their families, club and reputation - in for the long haul, Whatever they are doing with the new kids coming in they are embracing the Bulldogs family orientate culture. Lets hope it continues on as these boys progress through the ranks.

Makes it even sadder that some of these young blokes waste the opportunity given to them and act like gooses and those that stay honest and out of trouble ,put in the hard yards still suffer due to injury etc.

I am going to watch our Matts and Ball sides play this weekend and there is a young fella playing in the centre called Eli Clark who was invited down by the Dogs from the mid north coast. Went to the local primary school and from all account is talented. Cant wait to see his centre partner Paul Alomoti too.
