I read some interesting stats yesterday: in the last 10 SOO series, the side that has lost the first game has won the 1st half penalties in game 2 nine times. Coincidence? No, they're not even interested in hiding it!

There was an article earlier showing 8 times QLD should have been penalised. Refs can't catch them all, but even just one or two would have made it a completely different game.

QLD will say ohh what about six agains... I'm pretty sure they were even, but they're hard to compare to penalties since teams will purposely give away a set restart on play 1.

Look all those were pretty soft examples except the cotter offside and the escort by Deardon. They were pretty blatant and should have been penalised. In the last 10 min as well Qld were always well offside at the play the ball when we got to their tryline. We had to play well deeper than we would have liked because of it. In my opinion that was worse and should have been dealt with 6 agains that weren't called and finally a penalty that could have been used to even the score.

I didn't watch most of the games, so I am going off this video. I would imagine if the situations were reversed & NSW had committed these infractions and WERE penalised, then the media would have been gunning for Klein & saying these were minor infractions & should have been play on. I would have penalised the chicken wing tackle, but not much else. If they showed me every QLD penalty & they were minor too then OK. This is a biased response IMO.

Watching the game there was an obvious trend;

6 Mins Penalty to Qld, NSW Captains Challenge successful

8 mins Score NSW 6 - Qld 0

9 mins Penalty to Qld
10 mins Penalty to Qld
11 mins Set Restart to Qld
12 mins Set Restart to Qld

12 mins Score NSW 6 - Qld 6

19 mins Score NSW 6 - Qld 12

22 mins Penalty to Qld
23 mins Penalty to Qld
27 mins Penalty to Qld

28 mins Score NSW 6 - Qld 14

29 mins Penalty to Qld

30 Mins Score NSW 6 - Qld 18

35 mins Penalty to Qld
36 mins Penalty to Qld

37 Mins Score NSW 6 - Qld 26

54 mins penalty to Qld, NSW Captains Challenge successful

From that point on the penalties to Qld dried up dramatically, after two successful NSW Captains Challenges, coincidence, I think not.

Plainly the NRL wanted and needed a deciding game in Sydney, so the above doesn't surprise me.

Team Work

Totally agree TT!! The fix was on from the start. It was so obvious. No team can overcome an avalanche of possession like they had. We almost did and should have really in the end, scoring more tries, but Lomax’s kicking stank, so we didn’t.

There will always be a bias whether conscious or not, to go to game 3 tied. A decider is far more advantageous for most stakeholders.

Yeah Fox Sports are banging this drum too.

Dropping him because he only played 26 minutes LOL.. like its his fault.

I think they want to put him on the bench and bring somebody else into start. If one of the Saifiti brothers becomes available, it's not a bad idea.

I think because Young was going so well, it changed the way Laurie used his interchanges.

I hope our fans on here who were acting like the Phins win over us minus 9 players was some big feat were watching that game
