Official 2025 NSW CUP Jersey Flegg Ron Massey Scores ,Squads and Team News

Woods looked good in nsw cup.
Very young team
Woods stood out in the highlights - also good stats - if any one watched the game any thoughts on Rinakama - good stats as well - how did he defend?

A lot riding on these 2 + Sua?

Hoping they can be solutions to some of our roster shortfalls.

Im note sure about Sua defensively - hopefully it has improved a lot - with ball he is very good at times - i need to get to some nsw cup games

I caught the games yesterday.
A quick summary for the cup game..

Woods was good. Scored a try setup at least one other. 40/20. Holds his own in defence. Minimal errors, one kick out on the full.

Tia. Does good things in attack, played centre. Defensively pretty average, one glaring error where he went to put a shot on and got embarrassed comes to mind.

Blake Wilson. Had a shocker at fullback. Dropped a couple, one was poor communication between him and Rinakama where they collided fielding a downtown kick. Tried a grubber that was definitely the wrong call at the time, and poorly executed as well. Justified Ciraldo’s decision not to pick him. Disappointing

Rinakama and Sua both showed good signs at times. Overall don’t think they’re ready for NRL yet, mistakes and defence need to improve.

Forwards overall show promise but then silly errors in both attack and defence are letting them down.

Jake Arthur pulled the strings for the knights really well, and considering he just got there this week was pretty impressive. One of those guys that has a skillset between cup and NRL level.

Can’t recall him being a weak link yesterday. Tia next to him stood out a little more that way

Do you guys think some of our Cup players are not progressing as well as they should be because of the coaching?
I understand the thought, but couldn’t make that assessment. We are just not privy to the actual coaching.

What I would say is the squad chops and changes so much it would be hard to build any momentum. On top of this, we’ve got so many young kids playing up in this team, more are getting exposure to tougher opposition earlier than they would otherwise.

It’s also giving the club a good idea pretty quickly who they should persist with I think. It’d be great to see them killing it, but we’ve seen in the past that winning cup doesn’t necessarily translate to the NRL success, both for the dogs and others.

IMO whilst winning every game in every grade would be ideal the lower grades are "development and trialing grades" - results are mostly irrelevant - i haven't seen as much nsw cup as i would usually watch - but based on highlights n stats Woods, Rinakama, Spinks, Hopoi seem to be progressing well both sides of the ball and Sua with the ball. It only takes one or two who cant quite match it at the level to significantly impact the scoreboard - there were two who played yesterday that based on what id seen in Sgball n Flegg last year surprised that they were playing cup level.

End of the day Gus uses NSW cup to test how young guys handle it.
What do you want? A great nsw team full of guys who can’t make the step to nrl like we used to have
Or young guns some of who will be NRL stars.

Woods has handled the step up to Nsw cup with ease. My only concern with him was his physically in defence. He is going to be a star no doubt.
Him and Galvin are skin and bones. Both technically flegg players playing 1-2 grades ahead based on talent. Imagine when they fill out their body….. once they add muscle to their frame and pick up that extra yard in pace and that extra strength you get when you progress into adulthood. Will be phenomenal if they keep on developing at the same rate they have been.

Blake Wilson is Nicki Minaj levels of ass. Honestly so dumb and a bit of a throwaway mentality we just let go JAC and Skelton and didn’t really replace them with that sort of quality. Hopefully Sua and Rinakama hit the ground running next pre season and call for that spot

Woods has been earmarked for a couple of years Wendy. Unless something drastic happens I can’t see him not being our halfback in NRL by 27 at the latest. He is already doing some good things after only a few games of reggies, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in the team next season.

Sua isn’t as certain. He was on an upwards trajectory but seems to have plateaued. I haven’t seen much reggies though so just basiing that on less talk around him and the fact that Rinakama seems to have overtaken him.

Only saw the highlights but Woods doesn’t look out of his depth at all hey? Actually the opposite. Once he gets a bit bulkier and stronger the sky is the limit for the kid.

It’s a pity Wilson has gotten worse. I thought he was well on his way to being a regular first grader. Not saying he can’t still, but he hasn’t been banging the door down to get his spot back.

Good point about the team lineups changing dramatically. It’s only seen as development pathways (which is correct imo) so the results don’t matter that much to the heads, but I’m sure they still want to win because it wouldn’t do the guys much good never winning. Both Cup and Flegg are doing ok though, sitting around mid table.

Woods is a smart footballer for sure. Have been watching him for a long while now since his first year in Harold Matts, and before all the contract talks. Most games he’s played a level above the rest on the field.

Like any player though he is going to have games where he doesn’t stand out as much, especially as the opposition gets tougher as he keeps moving up. I think the more he settles in with those around him, the better he gets. He’s a competitor, and plays a composed game.

Wilson I don’t think has had a good year. From his games in NRL at the start, defensively wasn’t great, and a few errors. Hasn’t changed much in cup since unfortunately.

Don’t think they’ve got the stability and cohesion to challenge the better cup teams this year as it stands, but there still is a long way to go and they could turn it around with a solid month of footy together.

Dogs have pinched another kid from the Roosters

Baxter Warner.
