So pretty much we’re not getting a prop and in the unlikely scenario Gus pulls off some wizardry they would’ve missed half the off-season. We won’t make the 8 next season but there’s no excuses for not being in the mix until the last game. On the bright side we’re absolutely on the up the emphasis on the youth has been brilliant from Gus a lot comes down to Ciraldo now no excuses for lopsided score lines this year.

Some interesting stats out there.

1. Just four of the 17 from Barrett’s last game remain in the Top 30 and Connor Tracey, the latest arrival, is their 26th signing in 18 months. That’s a lot of turnover, and now it needs to work.

2. They finished 15th last year with the worst defensive record in the comp by a distance, conceding almost a hundred points more than the Dragons and Tigers.

3. The sides that finished 15th in 2022 made the top four. So did the side that finished 15th in 2021.

Nobody is quite expecting that, but with a roster that now includes four players who played in the Grand Final in 2022, two more who played in 2021 and another from 2020, it’s hard to argue that the cattle are the problem anymore.

4. In 2023, they were slammed by injuries. That can happen to anyone, but at the time, few could remember it cutting so hard at the same time in the same positions as it did at the Dogs. There’s no accounting for that and, really, it probably bought Ciraldo some time.

It’s been said 100 times but the islands are tapped out yo.
Trust me. These are tiny islands and in todays world nothing is getting past scouts
League. Union. NFL. WWE
Most islanders don’t come from the islands anyway they are from Blacktown, Penrith, south Auckland and Logan. With a pinch of dee why.
Also just read the Bulldogs have formed an alliance with the Canterbury Rugby league in NZ to tap into the local market and create development pathways.

Luke Garner available. Wouldn’t mind on the bench

Another Andrew Davey imo, not really an upgrade on any of our current players.
Nah Garner is a solid player to have. He was a shining light in very poor Tiger teams

Really? Seeing as Zac Hoskins is leaving seems weird to let both go? Have they got better coming through? Not sure
I would want him. A bit like Davey got out played and lost his position to a rookie.

Mav Geyer, Preston Riki, Harrison Hassett. All x3 better than Garner, just younger and had to wait their turn. All better than Hosking in attack, defence no.
