The Bulldogs have now lost eight from ten.

Canterbury Bulldogs head coach Trent Barrett has hit his team with home truths following their eighth loss in ten games to start the season.
The Canterbury coach, who is fast running out of excuses following an off-season signing raid, told reporters at the post-match press conference that his team's performance - riddled with errors - summed up their season to date.

The Bulldogs coach is facing growing pressure from fans amid speculation that he could be the first coach to be sacked this season. Adam O'Brienwas another, however, the Knights' victory last week will buy him a few weeks away from the spotlight.

Barrett will be unable to avoid it though, telling reporters his team's performance simply wasn't good enough.

“I think it probably summed us up all year the unforced errors and set ends at crucial times. They’re courageous and they try hard but that’s not enough to win you games,” Barrett said.

“Until we learn to cut out those individual errors that we’re making, build pressure and come up with the right kick at the right time.

“I sound like a broken record with the press conferences because it’s the same every week. It’s not good enough.”

Barrett may not have been willing to point out any individuals in the scathing review of his side, but with only 44 per cent possession and a 64 per cent completion rate - getting through just 22 of 34 sets, to go with 27 missed tackles to just 11 and 15 errors to 8 - it was impossible to label the Bulldogs performance on Friday evening as anything other than a total team misfire.

Phil Gould has repeatedly backed Barrett to get the job done in charge of the Bulldogs, who completed a miraculous off-season rebuild.

The club will enjoy the arrival of Reed Mahoney and Viliame Kikau in 2023, however, a bloated salary cap will stop the club from making any further signings of note.

With matches against the rejuvenated Tigers and Dragons in the next fortnight, followed by the Panthers and Eels, the club are facing the very real prospect of anchoring the table for the remainder of the season.

Barrett is desperate for change, and it could come as soon as next week. Raymond Faitala-Mariner is set to return after Phil Gould confirmed he was going to play during magic round if not for a case of the flu, while Jacob Kiraz will also be eligible to play following the signing of a new deal.

"I think it probably summed us up all year the unforced errors and set ends at crucial times. They’re courageous and they try hard but that’s not enough to win you games,” Barrett said. that's the excuse we have got for the last 10 weeks and that replaced last years excuse " I don't Have the cattle & Yes he does sound like a broken record, He's The Fucking Coach and all he teaches them every week is to cut out errors, Where the FUCK is the back line movement?, The field positioning ?, the backing up the man with the ball ? Pressure mounting grubber kicks? Quick play the balls, SET MOVES? & fitness conditioning , Playing players to the strengths, Burton keeps missing goal kicks so let Flannigan Kick, give Jason Cook a run at Dummy half, Barrett has had ample time to to try different tactics but I bet next week we will see exactly the same team and exactly the same game as usual, with five plays of one out running by inept forwards and if Burton doesn't go down with ball on the forth then he will put up our only weapon ( the big spiral kick ) that all opposing teams are awake to and train for every week. Fucking Open your eyes and do something Barrett.

It’s not all about errors and possession. There is no structure, no game plan and players aren’t being coached to their abilities.
This ^ the perfect summarisation, we have a team that should be finishing from 8th-10th this year but the coaching is so bad, any other coach would have us higher on the ladder but this idiot still sticking to the attacking structure that hasn't worked for 1 and a half years. This guy is not a nrl coach, assistant at best.

Well you can't expect the Coach to blame himself now can you. He's not the one dropping the ball or missing the tackles.
His role though is to instil knowhow which breeds confidence.
Seriously we lack confidence and play confused and without direction.
To state the obvious Dean Pay had the team performing better for the most part, winning more games in his first 2 seasons than we appear capable of winning now. Cogger, Lewis and Foran had more idea how to control the team than Burton, Flano or Averillo do now.
An experienced half game manager would make a world of difference. We should of gone after Hynes or Reynolds rather than Burton, TPJ or outside backs.
I feel for Baz. His squad is incapable of executing his gameplan. I don't see that the squad gets to build any confidence if we keep playing the same way. So Baz either changes our structure, as crazy as that sounds mid season, or he will achieve these same outcomes for as long as the Board can stand it before they must take action to prevent us becoming more dysfunctional.

So, no 7 and no fb?
This club has lost the plot.

And why would Burton want to stay?

Agree with your post in general but with a slight change - Baz has a structure and a game plan but it's absolute crap, it doesn't work and the problem is he repeats the same crappy plan every week.

There is a game plan, unfortunately it's shit...
3 settlers, double block shape shift to the left edge, kick. Rinse repeat

Coaching staff are not good enough.
Was likely an inevitable thing that we'd be scraping the bottom of the barrel to pick up an entirely new coaching staff when we hired Barrett. Ideally you have to scalp quality staff one by one. Gathering an entire group in one off season is going to mean you recruit people that weren't even employed
