Take out their 2 fluky tries - our defence was very good!
The sky is the limit if we can improve our error rate and discipline

Will someone please show the side the correct technique for catching a high ball, this was our biggest mistake last year and it's still there, elbows together ffs.

I am as happy as the next guy that we won and was able to see a marked improvement in defence.

But at the end of the day this was only Penrith. They struggled to score last year and it looks as though they will again this year.

The Bulldogs of 2011 would have lost that game.

People Chill! We won

It's an interesting thread and sure we won ugly but we won. Time to celebrate! Here are some good things to take on board from the match:

1. Penrith are a bogey team and we won convincingly
2. Despite a big loss on the possession stats we tackled them out of the game and many of those tackles were in our red zone...sensational
3. James Graham is clearly headed for greatness and he plays for us YIPPEEEE!
4. Halatau gets better every game. Sheens must be spewing he had to let him go. Halatau is not just good, he's sensational and will represent the Kiwi's this year.
5. We now have our own mongrel in the Isaacs, Sandow mold and he is called Romelo. What an asset for now and the future
6. Our size in the forwards not an issue. Cranky Franky, Kasiano and the size of Halatau's heart make it all good.
7. Barba as sensational as ever
8. Turner a hero love his work bringing the ball back
9. Fitness worries a thing of the past. Noone looked tired at the end. Looked like they could have gone around again. Even Brandy Alexander had to comment deep in the 2nd half that Penrith should have been the team that looked fresh given all the ball they had enjoyed but the Bulldogs were.
10 Eastwood gave glimpses of form and should he go on with it we will have the best pack in the NRL.

Yes we can improve but Penrith are a top 8 team and we beat them.

Going by the round 1 performances

Raiders, Storm, Broncos, Manly, Warriors, Tigers, Sharks, Titans, Dragons played better than us so we've got some work to do, however its round one so no need to be too worried atm.

I didn't see those games so maybe you are correct but you can only beat what's in front of you and we did that in atrocious conditions and with a certain amount of flair.

I feel Barba's greatest problems with the high ball are that he's not getting the support of his first line pressuring the kicker and he is not getting enough of a screen against the chasers. Taking those balls becomes a confidence issue, and he isn't getting the consistency of help he needs - tending to second-guess a lot.

Also - Graham is a MACHINE!
mate he is not a fullback right nut ! to small and to scared to take a bomb! have him as a strike player of the bench, benny would cause havoc'' comming of the bench'' ?

I'm not at all getting carried away after one win against an average to below-average side.

I do, however, have one question:

When was the last time we could truly say "Our forwards won that one for us" prior to Saturday? I'm struggling to think...

simmons is a sook, he had a cry to the media. a real man would have said nothing. it comments like his that attract unwanted attention to our game, and before we know it the game gets cleaned up and the softcocks ruin it.

The conditions tonight didnt suit a player like Barba where a lot of his impact involves speed and stepping, which is hard on a slippery surface. He still managed a try andlike most players in the NRL wont be in his best form for the year in week 1.
soward bombs barba makes no attempt to catch high ball ,,''try '' dragons score!! again again and again!
