News EXCLUSIVE: Toby Sexton had 'similar hype' to new Dogs teen. This is the halfback's advice

The golden child will have to prove himself first. Quite a few promising players fail the test when given their opportunity, or find that they are too injury prone to continue. The Dogs should keep their best performer and release the other if they can't handle being back up. Both are...

News Ciraldo knew Bulldogs fans were special. In a London pub, he realised just how special

I worked in London in the 1970s for one of Australia's large banks. English guys working for me were Chelsea and Spur supporters, and there was rivalry between them too. I supported West Ham because, not being a soccer fan, I liked their player Billy Bonds from games I saw on TV, and I didn't...

Having been through an England/Ireland match at Wembley, you wouldn't want to be like the hooligans I was confronted with. Bricks and darts were being thrown at random during the match, but the atmosphere was something I've never seen in Australia. I recall that we had a small group of fans...

Canterbury have signed 21-year-old Warriors prop Zyon Maiu’u, effective immediately.

Some of those Māori boys would go on raids for meat. After they ate out the large flightless birds, they had to rely on fish and human flesh for protein. On the raids, they would break the legs of their victims, to keep the meat fresh for when they returned. Not a good time to have a one shot...

Canterbury have signed 21-year-old Warriors prop Zyon Maiu’u, effective immediately.

From the Youtube clip, he looks mobile and fast. At 21 he should develop with the right training. He seems to have determination, and a good turn of speed. How long he can keep that up in first grade is the question. I expect that he will need limited time off the bench for a while. but he...

That's the big worry, isn't it? I expect that the change from ESL will be a big shock to him, but pre season training should help. Amone will need a few games under his belt before he is well and truly ready for first grade - I only hope that he is not another Thompson or T Rex.
