The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are preparing to take on the Sydney Roosters this Sunday, June 4 at Industree Stadium, Gosford.

While the Roosters will have the home ground advantage, both sides are fresh off a bye in Round 13 and looking for the win to avoid falling on the ladder.

The Sydney side suffered three consecutive losses leading into the bye round, while the Bulldogs managed to dig deep and claw back a win before some well-earned time off.

With only two points separating the sides in 2023 and the Round marking the sole occasion they will meet this season, it is sure to be a fierce competition come Sunday.

Corey Waddell will mark his 50th NRL game for the Bulldogs when he takes the field from starting position, while veteran Josh Reynolds takes to the bench to help guide the young side to a win over the experienced Roosters.

Leaning on the upset 16-12 victory from last season, the Bulldogs will aim to make it two-in-a-row over their blue, white and red opposition.

Club Captain Raymond Faitala-Mariner remains ruled out due to illness but Ryan Sutton returns to the forward pack alongside Jayden Okunbor, who is named to start.

Both sides have a number of players in Adelaide for Origin so a question mark looms over who will back up in this crucial, not-to-be-missed clash.

Either way, the Clubs' 'next man-up mentality' of 2023 sees the Bulldogs going in as the underdogs, ready to fight for a win.

Okunbur starting is a surprise. I doubt he plays the full 80. Maybe Waddell switches to the edge at some stage when Morrin and Edwards come on.

Wonder why Nu Brown isn’t being named over JR now that he’s healthy.
I'm guessing CC only wants to make forced changes to a winning side?

Meaning the PR stunt gets dropped for TPJ

If we make it through Origin unscathed, and Ciro goes for a line-up similar to vs. Titans (despite that line-up being wack as fuck) we could see:
5. Wilson -> Addo-Carr
10. Sutton -> TPJ (or TPJ to bench for impact)
11. Okunbor -> Waddell
13. Waddell -> Harrison
Bench:
14. Reynolds -> Wilson?
Morrin or Hughes-> Propunbor

This line-up really could be anything by the time Sunday rolls around. Glad to see Sutton making a return, now that he might have some size around him to help him out.

Reynolds in the side surely Ciraldo knows better then that
I don’t think he will make the cut. I think it will potentially be Flanagan or Rajab in as the bench utility. Keep them on the extended bench to avoid the media talk until game day.
