So... something like when a team leads by 30 the losers can call mercy and the game ends immediately?
yes... they have them in some junior sports (eg. leading by 50 points in a basketball game and so the remainder of the game is called off to spare the losing team further embarrassment)

Not opposed to this rule as it works in many other sports. Talk about avoiding the real problem though. Heads in the sand at the NRL.

How about when a team scores a try, they are not allowed to score again until the opposition scores.
This should eliminate the blow outs.
Best post ever.......but like I have said about every other great comment relating to the innovative and intelligent style of Mr V'landys ...DON'T GIVE HIM ANY IDEAS>>>>>>

Until somebody has the balls (and authority) to tell V'lad to pull his head in and change the rules back and stop interfering with the game, he will continue to chop change and add rules while ever the previous incarnation of them fails and creates a major clusterfvck.

It will be interesting in the future if V'lad keeps going and changes the fabric of the game so much that it will be impossible to field an international team because the international rules game will be alien to them.

After Ewan McGrath left them to come to us, his old team, The Moree Boomerangs once led a game by close to 50 nil at half time and LOST. Read it in Rugby League Week.
Is that the game they got banned? :grinning:

What had happened to this once great game?

It doesn't even resemble Rugby League anymore.
They are obsessed with making the game "faster" and in the process, they are making the game as boring as dust!
I have said this before but it bears repeating,
The rot set in when they scraped contested scrums, the excuse was safety and it slowed the game down but the real reason was that Channel 9 worked out they could put in 2-3 more minutes of advertising into their broadcast. (I worked in advertising at the time)
There was also a time when there was a place on the field for every shape and size, from the skinny little whippet to the big boofy guy. Now the game is best suited to players who are big, fast, and athletic, like Sonny Bill etc, this is bad for the development of the game at the grassroots level in the long run as kids who are keen and want to progress to higher levels but just don't have the athletic build and stamina required to complete satisfactorily will fall by the wayside.
Now only Rugby Union can cater to all shapes and sizes from U6 mini through to senior grade and this has a lot of appeal for kids left behind by Soccer and Ausy rules and soon now unfortunately, league

It's a fucking rabble running the NRL.

They apparently wanted to "introduce" fatigue into the game to see more tries.

The six again rule has:-

1. Turned rugby league into touch footy.
2. Ensures referees have even more say in which team wins.
3. Yet at the same time reduced the accountability of the referees.

Fucking farce.

Why did they meddle with the rules so much to begin with.. now trying to fix the mess they started.. bunch of incompetent clowns imo..
JUST A THOUGHT, I believe that TV rights are due to be negotiated soon for the next 5 years, (I could be wrong with this so please correct if my info is wrong)
Their has been talk that the networks are looking at reducing the amount they have been paying the NRL in the past, which if true would mean a general reduction to the clubs salary cap.
So its possible that the NRL in a desperate attempt to make the game more popular (therefore maintain the funding) have resorted to these drastic rule changes.
Not to sure what's happening with the ratings since the start of 2021, but the hearsay regarding ratings is not good.
