Hasn't Hoppa been player of the year or close to, the last couple of seasons. I tend to think, he has been pretty good in a bog average team (halves of lewis, awful hookers etc). Imagine what he would be able to do in a backline moving forward with speed and halves putting them in space. I reckon he would carve up. Give him a year Barrett and then give him the flick if he isn't what you want.
I would put Hoppa above unproven Gildart.
If Hoppa was right centre for Melbourne instead of Lee I'd confidently lay 1000 on Storm H2H tomorrow. Hoppa isn't our issue, just needs good halves inside him and someone like Addo-Carr outside him.

Great news if true.
DWZ unfortunately has proven his issues at 2 clubs now, tough as he has a go but doesn’t possess skill level read.
Reimis is garbage. Very lucky in my opinion to have played several years of NRL, he’s very limited skill wise, poor attitude, poor game awareness and was be shocked if he cam good elsewhere. I decent game a year doesn’t make him talented
Hoppa is def. passed his best. I reckon it’s a good strategic move to dump him now while he may represent some value to lower Clubs. We ain’t getting into finals and progressing with him there. Wonder what happened with bring his brother from Manly.
Anyway, hope this is true, great clean up Baz

Trent Barrett apparently has told William Hopoate and DWZ that they are not in his future plans and that if they can secure another gig elsewhere for next year, they will be granted a release. This has not gone over well with Tyran Smith and he is making moves to take out his whole stable of players, which includes his son. English international Oliver Gildhardt could be on the move to Belmore to replace Hoppa as a specialist left centre with Trent Barrett being a big fan. A source close to Barrett has also confirmed Jake Averillo will be the Bulldogs number 1, come round 1. So the Bulldogs could go from the worst attacking side to having one of the fastest most dangerous looking back lines. This being next year’s possible lineup:

1. Jake Averillo
2. Josh Ado Carr
3. Oliver Gildhardt
4. Nic Cotric
5. Jayden Okunbor
6. Matt Burton
7. Kyle Flanagan

Exciting times ahead at Belmore.
Is this an article or something you've heard?

I doubt Barrett has had a chance over the past month to do much for his future employer. I'd call bs.

I'm not so sure because it all sounds plausible. I can see Baz not wanting DWZ or Hoppa so that part makes sense.

Baz himself said he has a 90 minute drive to work everyday and he often uses that time to talk to the club and get things done. Look how quickly we pounced on Flanno, which obviously had to have approval from Baz.

The Remis bit makes sense because apparently Remis unfollowed us on Insta which lines up with this rumour

Gildart or Naden would also make sense as replacements for Hoppa

Avo at FB makes sense after missing out on Staines and JAC

It may very well be BS but at least it's an exciting rumour. I'm sick of all the crap rumours we've had to endure over the last few years.

I watched him today for wigan and first thing that came to mind was Euan Aitken.
Aitken found some good form the back end of the season, doesnt like passing the ball though

Dont think many centres do anymore thats why they get face balled every game. In regards to Aitken dont think he could pass...

Aitken definitely has Matt Cooper-itis when it comes to never passing or not being able to pass.

I wish this were true but the Panthers are most likely to keep Burton for another year. Gildhardt is fast but small by NRL standard. Might be suspect in defence. I can't see the club moving on Hopa a year early plus unlikely anyone else is going to match what we're paying for him and with DWZ we'd be lucky for another club to pay even half of what we're paying him. We should be chasing Stephen Chrichton to replace Hopa for 2022 imo. And yes JAC won't come to us to be a winger. If he is happy to remain a winger he may as well go to the Rabbits. Him playing fullback is our only attraction over Souths.

He goes hard for a smaller guy and has some good speed. Not a bad pick up if true, he is the current GB test centre, my only concern is his defence.

Speaking of UK Super League, Tommy Makinson is a gun (but is a winger).

Daryl Clark is a serious weapon @ #9, NRL class, would be a great target if Cheese or Harry pass.

exciting if we can secure:
JAC
Cheese
Flanno
Burton

Personally I'd go all in for Clark. Why wait around in the hope that maybe they'll be let go. And even if they are we'd have to battle it out with a host of other clubs. Fuck that. Go in hard now for Clark. Get him in before anyone else.

Agreed. People are banging on about B smith. Clark is the one we should be going for.
