Great plan. If you wouldn't want to goto a new top of the line built stadium in Belmore you're seriously not a real doggies fan. Straight up

We used to get 20k into belmore very easy, getting in and out was never the problem, the problem was the thugs, who were causing trouble during and after games, certainly the toilets and catering facilities are in diabolical state, but with government assistance it could be a great 20k all seater stadium.
Thugs go take a look at dragqueens supporters now that’s thugs

Club really out here trying to distract us from their failures with this feel good article
Not surprised at all!.. It won't change the fact that we're bloody sitting on the bottom of the table and can't sign a decent coach or players..not to mention the fact that we the bulldogs out of all clubs run out every game without a major sponsor on our jersey. It's so frustrating! Enough with this bullshit already and give us something real. Stick your FAKE NEWS where the sun don't shine AH.

Just thinking out loud... But hear me out please.

What if the government won't come to the table? I think the club should put it to the fans (board drama aside for a minute please)

Would you like to pledge money to bring us back to our spiritual home for good?
Well now is your chance! donations will all go into a BSG fund and will all go towards a full rebuild. We want this to be a special thing for all fans no matter how young or how old, we are a proud club with the most passionate fans. This will not be an invisible donation.
Special boards will be erected within the grounds listing all the members and fans who donated to help make this possible. Donations of (X) amount will get your name placed on the honourary wall which will be built within the grounds so you can have your name etched into the history of our ground, knowing you helped our finally come home etc.

Personally I think this is an idea alot of people could get behind as their name can be apart of the ground and the clubs history, something many would be proud of. I didn't like the please give us money because Covid etc, but this I could get behind and it would be interesting to see how much money we could get together.

Parra gets gifted their stadium largely due to WSW imo... Roosters and all these other entitled plastic teams get everything handed to them. Well I say fuck them! Imagine after all these dark years how good would it be to know that we as fans helped make something like this possible a club built up from it strong base of fans.
Given the lean years we've had and how the players have played like shit over at Belmore over the years, this could play a small or even large part in fixing that.

I think it's a fantastic idea or maybe I'm just fucking tired haha. Thoughts ?

It’s a nice idea but it’s not feasible without some type of government funding. We only have around 20k people that will put their money towards memberships even when we are flying so let’s add another 10k to that because it’s a special cause and say 30k will donate. Those 30k will have to donate over $8000 each on average to get in range of the $250m.

Then you have to think about the time it’s going to take to raise that type of money it could take years to decades. The pledge program could maybe used to fund a much smaller percentage of the rebuild but it would really need funding from the government to ever work.

I love the Belmore idea.

But I am a bit sceptical on all the construction stuff. I only live 1 street away and basically have a view of it.

Here's an idea. Invest in Peter Morre Field or Terry Lamb Reserve.

Good luck finding 25k people with $10k to spare. Then think about the lost revenue in ticket sales moving forward for years after you would have a nice shiny stadium that makes a loss on every game. It doesn’t seem like a good business model to me.

I don’t think it’s happening and it certainly won’t happen without the government coming to the party to fund the majority of it.

This.

If we can expand into that park space, then I think it becomes MUCH more feasible. The fact that it is one of the very few NRL grounds that is north facing, could be fixed by eating into that land.

To compensate for it, we can name a stand after Peter Moore and Terry Lamb :D

Exactly. And what happens when it goes 50 million over budget? Do they ask these funding the project for more money?

Liverpool does sound like a better idea. And if they can somehow get a leagues club in the precinct too with 200-500 pokies it will be a huge win for our finances and our team. Chance of that happening are 0.00001% though.

I'd design one of the stands to extend over the rails, creating a tunnel.
I thought the same over time. Even thought if its feasible for a mini station at the ground giving direct access to ground via pedestrian tunnels. Having 2 4-6 car dedicated trains operating along either way along the bankstown line to ease parking congestion at belmore.

I agree on that. If it is at all possible, we'll miss out to another team.
Well I'd love for it to be the case.. Like I said, it's worth a try. But I won't get my hopes up. Knowing the government they'll give Saints another $250 million for the shithole that is Kogarah instead. Belmore has been neglected for decades while other suburban grounds like Kogarah have had lots of funding.

Of course it’s a publicity stunt. They are just trying to deflect attention away from what is really happening now! Nice try board, but you’re not fooling us.
What about parking? Lol

Would be a very welcome move for the fans. A home ground brings a sense of ownership for fans and their club.
It's a blue ribbon Labor seat, so there will be no money from the government, but we shouldn't allow that to stop us - why should we need handouts when the rest of the NRL world shuns us at every opportunity? We can build our own fortress.

The idea of using the Liverpool property is a worry - I recall what happened to us when that idea was raised in 2002. Word was that the overall development proposal, including a new gaming club, was seen as a threat to the Sydney Casino; and something had to be done to kill the club. The cheap deal for Homebush was the conciliation offer, after they destroyed the team.

The only reason the club has gone public with this is to get a slice of the government’s stadium funding package and as a distraction to the clubs current issues. Government funding is the only way it’s going to happen.

There’s no way you’re going to get $250m any other way plus you don’t want to own your own stadium it’s a money pit. It’s a massive initial outlay of cash and then you have to work your ass off attracting events for years to come to pay for it. I couldn’t see anyone besides the Dogs being a tenant and the stadium would be up against stadiums with much larger capacities for other events like concerts.
