Danny ghantos correct
Massive offer from Canberra
Danny has looked very promising and his running game is very dangerous.

Given our talent at hooker it would be inexcusable to lose him.

Hopefully the Raiders offer forces the Dogs hand.

We are starting to get some good juniors come through now, just offer Grant/Bateman or Fifita a healthy contract shed some dead wood and the rest will sort itself out.
Blood some juniors such as Schoup, Biondi and Topine and play Averillo and RT more
the no reserve grade is killing us with the players you have mentioned, they need the experience of playing against men before they can step up. Hopefully the club will allow these players to drop and play in the Sydney shield or presidents cup which starts on July 18.
Another issue is that our feeder club Cabramatta have pulled all sides out of the competition this year because of the COVID19, which is stupid.

Ive been telling ppl this.
If you have a talented son and roosters, sharks and dogs chasing him, would you send him to belmore? No wonder we only get country kids and kiwis. Cos their parents dont know about sydney suburbs. Lol
You are aware it’s easy to travel around Sydney

I agree with this now more than ever. Bring Hook in as Football director so they can save face with Pay and bring in Ennis.

Griffin will certainly develope our juniors and programmes for the long term and bring some much needed disapline . (Mad monday, Port etc..)

He can help Ennis or even Pay to be 1st grade coaches and will be attractive to top players on the market.
Had Penrith into finals 2 years in a row , and the juniors that came through under him wether or not they were there before or not is irrelevant // he’s a good coach I’d take him

Strange that Canberra are after him when they have Hodgson, Havilli and Starling but smart clubs can never have enough talent.

You'd think a struggling club with cap space, roster spots and a gaping hole at hooker would make locking up their own young talent a priority.

At least that's what the Andersons said would be their priority when they first took over.. Does Lynne admire Canberra so much that she'll let them poach one of our best prospects?

I think Danny is only 16-17 so they are probably looking at him for when Hodgson moves on.

The club has been pretty clear about becoming a development club and they should be locking up the talent before offers can come in.

Maybe the powers that be simply don't rate the kid which would be rather strange as he has looked promising and defiantly worth keeping at the club considering his position.

Unfortunately there is no quick fix.

In simple terms unless you have 2 elite players in your spine (fullback, 5/8, halfback and hooker), you aren't winning games. We have ZERO.

That is our biggest issue, it is why I'm going mental at us signing props all the time. You can get a silly prop for 200k, why are we paying ones 600k plus.

I saw high highlights and while he's only a little fella, he looks quick which means he would suit the current game. Didn't know he was a rep player which makes this even more worrying
Sorry for the stupid question, but how does it work exactly in this situation. Would the club be aware he has a huge offer from Canberra or are they are in the dark? Surely he would have told the club as I assume he's a local junior and want to stay
Apart from Grey there doesn't seem to be anybody else in SG Ball, Flegg, CC or NRL that would be classed as a good hooker so WTF are they doing?

It's interesting what Gus said about Batemans manager Isaac Moses. I wonder how many guys we have managed by Moses. Not sure we need and guys under his services even though he is suspended his company would still operate.

Regardless of whether these prospects pan out or not, there's absolutely no excuse to let another club sign them and find out... Especially when you consider how little these kids earn.

The other issue is for seven years we haven't had good enough coaching and development in the lower grades to identify talent and help young players reach their potential.

I actually don't mind Starling and think if all other options fall through at hooker, he'd be a good backup plan on the cheap.

The problem for us is there aren't any elite spine players off contract (a couple hookers but they're a long shot). It'd be nice to grab a few on contract because they're the most influential players. If we're able to identify a couple that are currently underpaid (less or around what they're worth) maybe we could get a few to break contract, not sure. We need (or at least can) to strengthen in almost every area tho.

Its even more interesting considering Gus will be a player manager and talking about his competition. Its not new this whole player breaking contract crap. $BW set the standard and the NRL gave it a rubber stamp by not banning him permanently. Instead the prick comes back and plays for our arch enemy's...

That's pretty fucking annoying... Especially considering they took Starling off Knights and haven't even really gave the boy a chance... Do we look like we will come to the table and match the offer ?

Greenturd gave des a job after he screwed our cap and manlys cap. Remember everyone saying he will never or should ever be in charge of a team again. Breaking contracts is part of the game so should be trades and draft. Look at Matteson. Sign with tigers on a good deal has a break out year and wants more again. Ok you go to Parra but we got 200k plus a certain player. Let's become professional

Grant was available this season...Brodie Croft was too. Did we even try and get Val Holmes when he was coming back? There are options...but instead we pay goodness knows for Napa...we buy Katoa to not even play him...it's a debacle.

Grant was a massive miss. Maybe the board/recruitment team were scared of a Lichaa v2. Grant would of been just as good as Knights signing Ponga back in 2018.
Croft isn't a game manager/organiser. He's naturally a running half. Also looks like he struggles under pressure (we're under a lot of pressure in games). Not so worried about missing out on Croft.
We would of had to offer significantly more than the Cowboys for Holmes. I think he's already shown enough to suggest he can get back to where he was before leaving the NRL.
Katoa minimum wage back up/depth player. We missed out on Koroisau (all of our eggs in one basket and it didn't come off).
We have to start landing players now, no more excuses.

You do know that we have had negotiations with Grant for 2 years, still ongoing BTW.
Croft was advised (told) by Cronk to go to the Donkeys, plus he was always going back home to Brisbane, there was never a chance signing with us, not that I would want him anyway.
Holmes was always going home to North Queensland, the Sharks threw the house at him and he turned them down, despite owing them for releasing him.

What we spent on Katao, a back up hooker for the back up hooker, would get lost in the rounding on Holmes contract.

We had no Cap space for Holmes, didn't want Croft and Grant is a WIP.
