Over the last few years we have a revival and win the meaningless games, so my theory is that other nrl teams are letting us win so that we have hope and persist with the coach/same team

they must be laughing their ass off if so, like "lolol they re-signed lichaa"

Team just has no pressure on them at that point, that they don't care - and they win lol.
