Who is our assistant atm? Surely they deserve an opportunity to have the remainder of the season to probe themselves if Pay is indeed finished which it looks like.
Steve Georgallis, and nah as he has apparently been the offence coach and our attack shape is very predictable. I heard Hook on the radio this morning talking about the Warriors gig so we clearly have showed no interest in him.

But, thats ok because the Big Secret, For your eyes only, Confidential, Could tell you but would have to kill you "Masterplan" is happening behind closed doors as we speak..;)

P.S, it fuckin better be.....

If they’re in charge of our attacking structures and set plays then they should be made to probe themselves for the rest of the season tbh

Just read Paul Kents article saying Pay has been treated badly.

I call bullshit.

Pay was given the honour of coaching the Dogs for 3 years before being replaced most likely.

If he is that good he will have no problem getting another gig coaching FG in the NRL if at the end of his current contract he is not resigned by the Dogs.

Lets see what happens.

Poor roster or not its been three years of SHITE.

The problem with keeping him on is
1. He will have a say on how to spend the cash, so if he fails and rexruits poorly the new coach will be stuck with his rubbish.

2. Who the fuck will want to join other than for overs? There is literally NO reason to join our club other than we have money next year. Not for development, not for a chance at finals, not for a great head coach, not for a chance at a comp. The one and only reason is OVERS...lol

Thats why I was never on board with the "wait until 2021" brigade. This year was the crucial year in my eyes, for pay and our 2021 season. This was the year to build off the back of last and to show it wasn't a fluke. This was our chance to show potential recruits what we are building for and we are on the way up. Instead we are just the same shit team as the three years before this.

I think the problem is virtually everyone on these pages believed before a ball was kicked this year that we should win at least 5 of the 1st 10 games and make the 8 as a minimum based on our finish to last year, a more settled pre-season and the addition of a couple of players.

Instead we are 1 from 6, so theoretically we need to win our next 4 without loss to achieve the 5 from 10 benchmark and to stay in touch with the possibility still of finals. Too even match our start last year of 3 from 10 we need to win at least 2 of the next 4..

My point is, regardless of Covid-19, The 2 idiots in Port Macquarie, Rashays, etc. when do we become accountable for our results?? If we win only 1 or 2 or the next 4 games and end up at 2 or 3 from the 1st 10 games, what then?

Something has to give, either we sign and announce some players, we sign and bring in coaching help and improvement to assist Pay, or we announce no extension and sign a new higher profile coach.

Am I missing something??

Bennett has ruled himself out of the Bulldogs coaching position stating he has every intention to stay on at Souths for the full term of his contract which expires at the end of 2021. So you can put a line through both Bellamy and Bennett.

Dean Pay won't be torpedoed at Thursday's board meeting, but Canterbury officials have privately conceded they will have a fairer idea by the end of next month whether to ''sack or back'' their coach.

With Josh Reynolds aiming to sink the boot into his former club on Sunday when he runs out in the Wests Tigers' No. 6 jersey, the Bulldogs know the clock is ticking when it comes to making a call on Pay for 2021 and beyond
The Dogs maintain there have been no conversations or approaches made to rival coaches, including Wayne Bennett.

No official deadline has been placed on a Pay decision, but the club knows they need to get moving soon so they can plan for next year.
Prior to the competition's suspension earlier this year, Canterbury were keen to see how the team performed across the opening two months before weighing up whether to extend Pay's tenure into a fourth and fifth season.

By the the time the Dogs have played the Tigers, Bennett's South Sydney, the Broncos and St George Illawarra, Pay will have had a similar amount of time to prove he deserves a new deal.
The last thing Canterbury want is to re-sign Pay early and have the poor results continue. The Dogs also know a coach can arrive as late as the post season and still have enough time to get a team up and running.

The Bulldogs, however, do not have that luxury of waiting that long. They have $3m to spend on new talent, but players will want to know who they'll be playing for before committing to the club
While Bennett's record speaks for itself, there are some at Canterbury who point to the fact it has now been several years since he last tasted success.

Craig Bellamy was linked to the Dogs last week but quickly shot down those rumours, even going to the point of ringing his good mate Pay to confirm there had been no contact.

Some people loosely affiliated with the club - but with zero influence - have ensured the issue of Pay's future has kept bubbling by tossing up a fantasy list of replacements.

The Dogs have already signed English prop Luke Thompson who will have no dramas leaving Melbourne on Sunday once his 14-day isolation period finishes.

Prop Aiden Tolman leapt to Pay's defence this week when he told the Herald: "Our cap was a mess for a long time, we had to let a lot of players go we wouldn't have liked to, particularly in Deano's first year, and now is the time to give him the opportunity ... let him get the team he wants and once he's got that team, judge him then. It's harsh to judge him right now."
Meanwhile, Reynolds, whose third and final request to leave the Tigers and return home to Canterbury fell over before the competition resumed, is expected to have a huge impact on Sunday evening.

Tigers teammate Harry Grant remembers watching Reynolds and quickly got a sense of how much he meant to the Bulldogs faithful, but was certainly glad he was wearing the black, white and orange.

"He'll be very energetic as he always is when he comes out on Sunday,'' Grant said.

"With the new rule changes he's a runner of the footy, he likes to get his hands on the footy, and once we get a bit of a dent in the opposition [defence], he's keen to take them on. He loves talking and is always talking out on the field.

How do we only have $3m LOL
Cause we still Jackson, hoppa, dwz, Napa,, Lewis, jmk, katoa, Stimson, Britt, averillo, chrichton, Thompson, r-smith, c-smith Ogden, meaner and to’omanga on our books for next season. Average them at 300k each and you have just over $5m of you cap gone.

So $3M into 13 players next year is ~$230K per player. Hardly a “war chest”

I was more making the point about how the board pushed 2021 as the magical year where we had all this cap space...fast forward to now and we have over 10 players unsigned and only $3m.

I'd love to know why they would feel the need to give Pay another month to prove himself when he's already had two and a quarter seasons...

Is the next month going to tell them anything they didn't already know? If they had faith in him they would have offered him more than a one year extension.

They've known all along that he's not the coach to take us to the next level yet they continue to leave him hanging while stifling negotiations with players with the continual uncertainty surrounding who will be coach next season.

It's time to shit or get off the pot and make a decision one way or the other.
