Wakeham had a shocker because he was being played in the wrong role receiving dog shit ball from Lewis who was receiving dog shit ball from JMK. Wakeham is a proper halfback and across all the grades that is the role he played and played well in.
Also, once Lewis got hooked and Averillo came on at 6, Wakeham looked much more comfortable taking control of the team.

The people who now think we aren't going to sign Reynolds are jumping the gun I think. I reckon the club will still sign Reynolds if the Tigers are willing to pay half his salary. The club will likely extend Foran also - on a reduced contract. I'd rather Reynolds over Cogger. Cogger does nothing other than pass the ball to others and he's average at that (very rarely a cut out pass or long pass) He does nothing to create tries. Reynolds at least has a bit of spark / unpredictability which is exactly what we need. Still if the Tigers want us to pay more than 350K - 400K a season tell them to get f^%ked. Would they rather pay Reynolds 750K just to sit on the sideline or would they rather have up to 400K up their sleeve to sign someone else ? Pretty sure they'll eventually choose the later. They have plenty of backs. They need more forwards. If Foran wants more than 450K tops we should tell him to shop around.
Watch Cogger more closely man your not seeing the things that matter... He doesn't throw cut outs like Lewis because he isn't a brain dead idiot. Jack engages the line by playing over the advantage line and draws defenders and plays to the benefit of the man outside him all the time when the opportunity to do so is there. Not all 7s have to be flashy and it's why alot of people think he's shit.

Wouldn’t want Lewis anywhere near the ball I watched a video of passing drills the other day and he couldn’t even hit the target on the wall not even a metre away. Every pass was off target, he’s useless. Only good for a tackle and a bomb

This is absolutely fantastic news for both him and our great club.
I’d luv to see young Wakeham become a real superstar and long term halfback,
We’ve all been through so much crap in recent years as a supporter base
It would be a blessing.
If he becomes our next superstar, can we expect him to be launched as the new face of the NRL, then be stripped of the title following an off season scandal; or will he walk out on us, and suddenly turn up playing for the Roosters?

Cogger would be playing reserve grade so I would doubt we'd even want to sign him on 300k, more like 200k. Reynolds does offer more than Cogger with the makeup of our team anyways. Again, it comes down to the price if it happens or not tho.
Reynolds once offered something, but he's older and has had less than a stellar career the past couple of seasons. A $750k asking price is not comparable to the value any club would get from him; and if the Tigers only want to pick up $150k of his wages, he might as well go to the UK. We are obviously shopping around for a back up roster should Foran suffer another season ending injury, but maybe we'd be better to keep Cogger and see what combinations we can develop, rather than pay overs for a bench player.

He’s too slow to play there it would hinder us in attack. Locks need to be mobile. Actually everyone needs to be mobile. Lewis is slow as fuck

It's the halves or nothing for Lewis and after having plenty of chances in the halves it looks like it is nothing.

You can't carry a player that can only tackle as the major feature of their game even on the bench.

Reduction of interchange will change the way the game is played soon. If he can bulk up maybe he can cut it at Lock. Im not sure. If Pay isn't going to use him with Foran, i'm not sure where he fits in the 17 at this stage. Still believe if he had Foran with him all season he would've improved a fair bit, but that isn't going to happen.
Might be best for him bulk up see where he fits or may need to move onto another club with a solid spine to improve his career, maybe not dunno.

I'd also be happy if you said we were looking to re-sign Foran ..
See how he goes returning this time. He’s had more comeback tours than John Farnham

Taumalolo is quicker than Lewis in every way. Lewis is slow off the mark.

Just try and imagine this picture in your head: Lewis breaking through the middle with footwork and acceleration.

See how impossible that seems even when you just try and think about it?

That’s pretty funny mate,
Well I’m hoping this board has the smarts to both identify and retain a good player
Also have a coach who can develop our juniors and teach skills
We can’t go on loosing our best to other clubs otherwise how are we going to become champions again.
Our dogs should be up there with the best with proper guidance.

Canterbury have locked down a piece of their playmaking puzzle, inking a new deal with young playmaker Brandon Wakeham - but where does it leave their pursuit of favourite son Josh Reynolds?

Canterbury have agreed to terms with rising playmaker Brandon Wakeham and the club is to announce his signature by the end of the week.

The rising playmaker, who was off-contract at the end of this year, will stay on at the Bulldogs until the end of 2022.

The retention of Wakeham, 21, hasn’t dented Josh Reynolds’ chances of coming back to Belmore in 2020 even though negotiations between the Bulldogs and the Wests Tigers have now become protracted.

Wakeham has been a retention target since before Bulldogs coach Dean Pay sounded out Reynolds for a potential homecoming.

It’s believed the sticking point between the two parties is how much of Reynolds’ salary each club is willing to pay. Reynolds is contracted to earn around $750,000 next season.

Like Reynolds, Wakeham is a Bulldogs local junior, and is currently in a three-way battle with Jack Cogger and Lachlan Lewis to partner Kieran Foran in the halves when the Bulldogs resume their season on Sunday May 31 against the Manly Sea Eagles.

Rising star Brandon Wakeham has cemented his spot ahead of fellow young playmakers. Picture: Brett Costello

Wakeham’s fresh signature indicates he has edged past Lewis and Cogger in the halves battle, especially after coach Dean Pay benched halfback Lewis was bench after 55 minutes into the clash against the North Queensland Cowboys in round two.

Foran, who has fully recovered from a shoulder injury suffered while playing for New Zealand last November, is expected to line-up in the no. 7 jumper in round three against his former side, the Sea Eagles.

The Kiwi international has so far passed all physical and contact work after returning to full training but needs a final approval from his specialist before he is given the green light to return to the field.

i wonder if lewis would be better off at 9? tackling isn't an issue and he rarely runs much anyway. also another kicking option
Need someone with speed quick of the mark like cook. Like someone else said he could turn into a wade graham style forward.

Then why is he in in the halves. That means he will always struggle to take on the line. He just needs to bulk up. Not sure why we didn't take the carrot the Storm were dangling when they wanted him.

We would’ve ended up with Addo Carr, who is lucky to even be playing this season after some very questionable decisions he has made recently.
