Ok.
Abu can you stop typing above quotes? It makes it stupidly hard to take you seriously. Having to go down to see wtf you are even replying to before reading whatever gibberish you are spouting.

I was pissed about the whole CHN but I admit I forgot about his checkered past. Some idiots just never learn.
What is this checkered past if you don't mind me asking? Seem to remember him caught up in that video scandal but wasn't he proven innocent? Either way, having an apparent checkered past I'm.sure there were behavior clauses added to his contract which would've been broken in the current incident

He knows my stance on his questions because he had seen the back and forth between myself and Natboy (his mate) about the topic.

do you believe the players weren’t given adequate representation in mounting their defence? i cant answer that because i was not present for that.

Do you also believe that the employers didn’t seek appropriate advice on their options? i have no idea if they did or didn't. I would hope they did. have no doubt the people involved would have been in contact getting the correct advice in the matter but so did rugby union on the Izzy Situation.

Have we seen Ben Barba ‘take anyone to the cleaners? its going to be difficult taking anyone to cleaners when you belt your Mrs infront of two others players and test positive numerous times to illegal drugs.
1) I have no comment on anyone's 'mates' - it's not why I come on here regardless of who may or may not agree with my views or (attempted) comedy. TK certainly seems very cliquey of late - talk of duplicate accounts and what not - weird to me.
2) Correct none of us were present, but the NRL and the club would've been derelict in their duty not to allow a suitable defence - they extended the time to respond to show cause at the request of the players - so it's reasonable (not certain) to assume they got a fair hearing.
3) I'd almost certainly think they did - who's going to potentially expose themselves (no Elliott jokes) to recourse by not doing this? I consider the Izzy situation very different, but that's a different conversation.
4) The specifics aren't comparable. The only measurement is: 'Was the code of conduct broken to an extent that warrants de-registration'? In both cases it appears yes - and Barba certainly never successfully appealed his de-registration (not sure if he even tried).

I know it's an emotional topic for many - and as a Bulldogs fan I wish the whole saga never happened - but the emotion has to be taken out of it when looking at the outcome. Cheers.

I'm sure he's made mistakes and he's probably had consequences for those mistakes too I'm not real sure on your point?
Agreed - and I also don't get the argument that Rashay's would've 'pulled the pin'.
The whole idea was the contract was going to be signed 2 days before Round 1 (10 March) and the players run out in sponsored jerseys for Round 1 (12 March).
If the saga never happened and there was no story to break - the contract goes ahead - irrespective of shutdown (unknown at the time).
Have all other clubs sponsors pulled their sponsorship for the same reasons? We don't know.

that's the shitty thing about this, it's an outrage case.. there has been more outrage towards other players, Dylan Walker as an example, yet for some reason outrage did not apply in his, and many other situations. If the line in the sand has been drawn, like they say, then sweet... but I am highly doubtful, if for example, another Souths player stuffs up
Is it an outrage case though? You and I have spoken already about how there's absolutely NOTHING in the media about this, and no matter what's going on around the world or in the NRL there's no way that the Dogs would get away with the public outrage over this in the past ... Why aren't people more outraged? Of course there's more important things to worry about but still ... it is the Dogs we're talking about!

I think the reality of this situation, even though many don't want to admit it, is that the club controlled the outcome from start to finish in the way they handled it. There are many opinions on whether they came out with the right outcome which is fine, but because the club took action straight away, because the club spoke to the girls / parents straight away / talked to the clubs/schools at Port Maquarie / revealed everything to the NRL we were able to control the situation according to how we wanted the outcome to be. By doing this we were able to control the 'outrage' at the end, but I disagree that this was an outrage case as we made clear decisions from start to finish based on what we as a club wanted to do.

Get that whole comparison to other clubs and admit I was very much the same. The way I try to look at things is that he club have gone out on their own with this and setting a clear standard for OUR players/staff to follow. And this can only be good.

Whilst as a supporter im pissed off with the position the players put the club in and their disregard for anyone that may have been impacted by the consequences of their pursuit of pleasure - I still believe that their actions are far less serious than drink driving, drug driving and acts of violence.

Well I just want to start of by saying how incredibly disappointing this has been from a fan point of view and was so totally avoidable by these two young men.
There is no way I could ever cast or formulate a fair opinion on their termination because the real facts were kept very confidential
We will probably never find out the finer details or the players previous indiscretions if any.
I genuinely wish these guys the best, they have paid a heavy price
My thoughts are to see our team playing again soon & management bringing us some genuine talent for 2021.

Adam Elliot.

Breached NRL and Club policy by stripping down naked and having his old fella flap around whilst in the presence of Board members and officials. Also committed a criminal offence.
Charged by the police and made headlines and was made to appear before the courts. Good behavior bond and fines were issued by the NRL of $320,000.
No game suspension and was allowed to continue to play. Given full support of the Club and board.

Corey.
Hooked up with a 17 year woman on tinder, brought her back the room and did the dirty. Not a criminal offence. Possibly help Rashays not signed the contract.
Rubbed out of the game. Contract torn up.

I do understand they are two totally different situations but if Elliot was given another chance for a criminal offence myself and many others do not see how it is fair that Corey is Fired.

Both did the wrong thing and both Cost the club huge money. Rashays deal was worth 2 mil and the Elliot incident cost us 300k.
In this case we don't know if the NRL or Club Code of Conduct was breached. If there's a definition around 'disrepute' that specifically pertains to public nudity/drunkenness or similar behaviour then maybe, but maybe not.
For clarity - no board members were present on Mad Monday - the coach and some staff were (and I've said numerous times they shouldn't have been - or they should've been toning things down when they were heating up - it might have been a private function, but it's still a pub).
Irrespective, the club fined both Elliott and Fine over their actions - and they were charged by Police. It turned out NOT to be a criminal offence because the magistrate did not record a conviction, only assigning a good behaviour bond.
The NRL fined the club $500k, 50% stayed on appeal pending no more offences. So the recent incident was a factor too - not only the club losing two sponsors, but if they didn't get out ahead of the issue, they faced owing the NRL another $250k.
Under those realities I don't consider what they did 'weak' leadership - but the opposite.

Great post. Very on point.

I was under the impression that there were club officlas and a board member preser present but I'm glad you cleared that up. I'll retract that comment.

Im sure its a criminal offence though. Just because a s.10 dismissal or bond is given you and its not on your record as convicted it does stay on our record and you are not eligible for another one unless your very lucky.
He was charged by the police so its clear to me that a offence has taken place.

I’ve never seen anything from our management regarding previous misdemeanours for Corey
But found it strange when he was dropped to the lower grade for some time last year
It’s all water under the bridge to be honest
It’s nice to read that our club will still have support mechanism and staff to assist during this incredibly difficult time in their lives
Let’s face it mate,we all make bad judgment calls at times
Nobody is perfect

Hypocrisy is my point mate.
Judge:
'Mr Milat, I sentence you to life in prison for the murder of a dozen peeps in the belangelo forest'

milats lawyer: 'hold in your honour l, I call for the case to be dismissed'

judge: 'why'

milats lawyer: 'we have found evidence your honour that in 1973 you were found guilty of taking cocaine at Star casino'

judge: 'ohhhh shit. Ok Ivan is free to go'

^ this is how ridiculous the hypocrisy angle is. Having a history doesn't rub you out of having opinions, often makes you more qualified.

Of course we all make bad calls and feel for both players and I don't think they intentionally went out to destroy their careers! By all means the club needs to help them as this will be an absoltuely terrible time for them, without doubt.

Wasn't he dropped for bad attitude in training? No one will ever know the full details though. No chance. Which is both good and bad.

They certainly didn’t go out to end their careers,
The boys had other things on their minds that night which subsequently clouded their fine judgment
Like you said we will never know what happen or perhaps a poor attitude in general doesn’t help either.
Any previous Letters on their file would have not been in their favour.

Exactly this. Any small infringements in the past by either will have been held against them, which is simply the way it's done. A really steep steep learning curve for them, and honestly feel for them in many ways. Shit. We've all made mistakes.

But at the same time they've got a lot more support, guidelines etc. etc. that most average person so the line "we all make mistakes" doesn't really hold trunk in this situation.

Honestly think we all need to accept that it is what it is. They've been punished. We as a club need to and have to move on. And we will ... hopefully up!

Yeah I really don’t want to dwell over this saga either.
As a supporter my only concern is going out to support the team and seeing us return to the top again.
I need to be honest and say Corey was one of my favourite players

Sure hope he is replaced with someone that has either the same skill set or better.
