Agree mate, Took our beautiful game away, that sucks.. but in reality after looking at the BIG picture, I think it’s in the best interests of all players health to have suspended it.

this virus is out of control and if they can slow it just a little, and it means RL will be saved then it’s the best outcome... would I have preferred it to keep going, and have games 4 days a week? Of corse, but some things are out of our control and this is one of them.

people and their family’s health has to be top priority..!!

As an aside Dogluva, I know you pledged to honour Dropbear with your avatar. How much longer do you have till you see out that comemoration?

(I think that was the crux of your Parra avatar...I may be wrong?)
People don't like to be called squealers but he should have dobbed them in. No wonder the virus is spreading when we have inconsiderate selfish people putting others at risk. They would probably be the first people to criticise the medical people if they can't get a respirator if they needed one. Heaven help them if they are positive and someone they contacted with gets the virus and dies....

Yes as a tribute to Peter.:upset: Never met him, but shared many texts and phone conversations up until a month before his death.

He joined us in 2015 and inspired us with his wit and outlook on life. He bought fun to the Kennel and was a generous and thoughtful man.Wow, that seems like a life time ago.

I have thought of going back to my previous avatar but never felt really ready, but he himself would probably be telling me not to continue to dwell on things. I am neither offended or upset by your question and I will do it, but not just yet. Will more than likely keep my drop bear picture at the end of my posts but convert the avatar.

Oh no mate, sorry, I didn't mean any more than an enquiry about your avatar.

Some new posters may not know of you dedicating your avatar to Dropbear.

It was a very honourable thing to do on your part and represents the comraderie found here by all the good people :grinning:

Why didn't we do the Gladstone idea?
Now before some smart Alec brings up the border issue, it doesn't need to be Gladstone, Gladstone is an idea, not a location.

Gladstone could have been in Northern NSW. Coffs Harbour or Port Macquarie. It could have been in Darwin (weather permitting) or a strategic expansion location.

The Port idea would work. Some games can be in Coffs still and some in Forster. It's better than calling the games off.
Port could of been the base. We as a Club have a special relationship with some school fans up there too.

Statistics tell you playing in front of 2000 fans in a place like Port which currently has 0 cases of coved 19 is extremely low risk. The biosecurity expert is an unnecessary alarmist. Cant stop thinking the leaders of our game engaged a so called medical expert so that they could distance themselves from the ramifications of any decision be it to continue or shut down - due to expert advice.

Put 10 so called bio security experts in a room you'd get 10 different opinions. Just look at each countries differing actions and reactions to handling this pandemic. Guess what people's - nobody KNOWS the unequivocally right way to deal with this thing.

In theory it’s a great idea but can you imagine the hysteria ? Also watching matches with no one there was flat. I didn’t enjoy it and imo the quality suffered. I think we are just going to face the facts that season 2020 will be wiped from the history books.

What if we establish that the virus can't be caught twice and then let all the healthy people get sick? Encourage it?

it'll choke the virus if we don't let the vulnerable in the way. No more hosts left to battle it and it starves.

The big issue with letting everyone get it is on average about 4% of people who get it die. 4% of our population would be a million people. Do we want to allow a million people to die? Thinking no. If it had been planned fast enough maybe they could have worked out a way of centralising all the NRL players and been safe, but it didnt happen before the borders closed, so too late now.

It was weird but not unwatchable. Beat the shit out of no footy. Some things were better with no crowd, the game seemed to flow better as there no crowd induced penalties. Im pretty funked out that there is no footy. Cant go out to eat, see movies, no footy. Theres no joy in life at the moment, except that i am not infected.

that 4% is taking into account the old and vulnerable. It'll be closer to half a percent if the plan works because only non vulnerable get it and there's no hosts to pass it on.

the best way is to lockdown but Aussies just aren't taking it serious enough.

I talk to my friends and half of them think it's a jewish conspiracy, another 30% think it's a beat up and don't care and 20% are taking it serious but slot are forced to work and socialise which they hate. We are too entitled.

I think right now a lot of people arent taking it seriously because a lot of people dont personally know anyone who has it, and even less someone who has died from it. Only a fraction of 1% of the population have it at this stage. But if it gets worse, and everyone knows someone who has it, and the deaths start becoming thousands rather than a dozen right now, a lot more will take it seriously

I know a lot of people who have it. There was a post last week that got no replies where people glossed over and missed or didn't care about Nasheed where I was scared because a lot of people I know caught it that I was in contact with. One gathering EVERYONE got it. So I thought it was a matter of time.
Fats forward to now, somehow I'm either a symptomatic or never caught the slut! As of today I'm on day 12 of exposure so almost there. Must be good genes or the fact I started taking showers daily after the news. I also started eating raw garlic which is meant to boost immune system like crazy so wonder if That helped or is a dr Antony Mundine special.

I bet their will be a few contingency plans in place for any related instances like these in the future

Not many people (fortuneately) are in your boots though. I dont know anyone who has it or had it. It is worse in NSW too i guess since the govt there do stuff like letting a whole cruise ship unload passengers the other day when ppl on board had it. How fucked up was that? But even so, still less than 1% of the NSW population have it, so most people wont know someone with it, at this stage.

This will be one of the positives to emerge.
Hopefully these things will happen.
1.The Chinese will realise their dirty wet market and eating everything oractcie has to end, and China enforce it hard. But China need to be held accountable for them to avoid it in future.
2. A contingency is implemented. Imagine if this was SARS and death was 20% mixed with Covid incubation period? Deaths would be a million at minimum. There's no reason that couldn't happen so this is an effective trial run.
3. Work from home and remote work will become the norm for the industries where it's possible.

Just edited your post to remove racism, please keep that out of it. Its ok to call it a Chinese virus, coz it started there, but discrimination against chinese people over it is not on. With me even less so, my missus is Singaporean Chinese and has Chinese relatives. So watch that shit. Only a small fraction of Chinese actually eat the crazy stuff some do in the poorer areas.

Ok I do apologise but I am so angry at how the Chinese government handled this and I have raw emotion on it. They won't take accountability.

I hope so. I always see Chinese people defend their government to the wall. I I know there's a lot of bullying to Taiwanese in Sydney. But what do I know? I'm not Chinese and don't really have any Chinese friends so I'm out of touch.
