As above.

LA is a boring, nothing to do shit hole. Anaheim is alright because it has Disneyland but LA itself is a toilet. Bunch of stars on the ground and $2 stores. Oh, and a bunch of, um, illegal immigrants dressed up as movie characters harrasing you for tips. "teep, señor".

Miama is over rated. Absolutely humid as hell. I'd put it in the same category as LA (boring) unless you're a fan of clubbing every night.

Vegas, ignore what people say about only needing a few days. Stay one week MINIMUM. I've been three times and I still haven't seen every casino. Great shows, great restaurants and great shopping. I hate shopping but I love shopping in Vegas.

I really enjoyed Arizona and Texas. I could see myself easily living in either state.

New York is my favourite place in the world. It's not cheap but stay there as long as you can. Aim for a minimum of ten days.
This above...

The only reason I want to do a tour is because the tour guides know their shit and what you should and shouldn’t do in certain towns. It also saves the headache of driving and looking for accomodation. That’s why I’m looking for one. I like the recommendations so far.

I haven't, but the tour I'm looking at has both Orlando and Miami in it. I wouldn't mind going to Tampa, it looks very touristy.

Well if you like wrestling, Orlando is where they film NXT so you could catch a show plus the performance center is also based there. If you go to Tampa you have Hulk Hogans Shop and down the road from that is his Hulk Hogan Restaurant. Hulk lives in Clearwater Beach which is just next to Tampa. Actually a lot of wrestlers live in and around Tampa/Orlando/Miami because of the weather, lifestyle and the relaxed tax rates.

Hiya folks,

Next year, the USA is calling my name. I recently saw a great deal from Contiki that pretty goes from Coast to Coast, LA, Vegas, everything between on the way to Miami, then up to the big apple. However this requires me to start in LA and then when I hit NY, fly back down to LA, then back to Sydney.

Now I was recently thinking that it might be better to do it the other way, fly to LA, then fly to NY, START there, and make my way down to Miami, then over to LA (bus tour of course, everything in terms of travel and accommodation is already taken care of, plus it's a way to meet people).

I can't seem to find that reverse route though, and I would prefer not to take Contiki because it's generally a younger crowd and I'll be the oldest guy there. I'm happy to go on a tour that's more a mix.

I'm after something that will take approximately 4 weeks give or take because I'm aware that is how long it will take. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience?
Sydney to San Fran - 3 nights in San Fran, Pier, harbour cruise and Bridge, plus bus tour of the city suburbs. Stayed near Union Square, central spot. .
Fly San Fran to Chicago - 3 nights in Chicago - cruise and see the buildings from the water. Haven't been but stay only in the main part of town and organised tours only.
Fly Chicago to NYC - 5 nights in NYC - including walking tour Brooklyn Bridge plus various districts of the city, Times Square including Broadway Show, cruise around Island, Central park. Hotel St James best value near Times Square.
Train or bus NYC to Washington * 2 nights in Washington is enough including day trip to see all the monuments & White House which was not as big as I expected. Plenty of options for hotels, choose your preferred area.
Fly Washington To Miami - 3 nights in Miami including Ocean Drive strip at nighttime great sights of girls dressed up like hoochie mummas etc. Stay as close as possible to Ocean Drive strip as your budget allows. If possible a overnight bus trip to Florida Keys, great drive.- 2 days (1 night stay near Sloppy Joes Bar).
Fly Miami to Vegas - 3 nights in Vegas including Grand Canyon day trip. Stay on the Strip, Excalibur Casino best value.
Fly Vegas to LA - 3 nights in LA including Santa Monica Pier to Venice beach walk, freakshow. Magic Castle Hotel best value and near Walk of Fame area.
LA to Sydney 2 - nights
Or reverse.

All highlights except Alaska covered.

I been to all except Chicago and you could do in 4 weeks easy.

I drove from Vegas to LA airport, I kept drifting left and its pretty stressful especially LA traffic.

Just my suggestion.

Nasheed here,
Don't do it like that.

contiki is good but it's not for the USA.
it's better for Europe.

when I ripped through Vegas I met contiki aussies and they were living life on the strip but got the shits that they were on a schedule and had to go back to their budget accomodation off the strip.
Also you seem single and joining a contiki robs you of the chance to hook up with American bitches.
American bitches love the Aussie accent, you need to give yourself the freedom. I did it over two months. Americans are friendly and want visitors to have a good place.

my advice is go to Vegas. Do it on your own schedule. You'll have fun. You'll make friends. Alcohol is free if you hover around the tables and you can do it in the cheap if u want to jew up.

Fly into SAN Fran and then get a cheap flight to Vegas.San Fran is strategic because it's not a super long flight and is safer than LA (other option) and is tourist friendly because it's compact and I can walk and ride it in a few days easily. It's a nice city.

La is spread out. It's worse than Sydney. No individual place to be. Hollywood sure, but it's not as good as you think.

I can go on, but I need to know what's your go? What kinda trip you want to do? Nature? City? Bitches? Culture? Quiet? Busy?

You won’t be going now lol. In fact it may be a very long time before you go anywhere again. I don’t need to say why !!

Well it's on the back-burner now, but basically, NY to Florida, Florida to Vegas, then San Fran.

That's an illogical route. Flights go into LA and SF for 13 hrs and Dallas for 16.

If you're wanting this then it's better to go into LA, drive to Vegas down Route 66, Vegas ti Florida, Florida to NY and then to SF and out

get somewhere off track in between to avoid NY and LA taxes. Colorado would be good or Nashville

In San Diego I know a nice guy That does Mexican day trips.

What country did you start that kennel account?
That wasn't me.
Someone just told Mr Invisible in private it was me as a prank and he just blindly took his word for it and banned me and Estonia dog, who you refer too.

Didn't consult me, I had no way of defending myself and proved it when I got back from suspension and Invisible was demoted as a result. I just wish he questioned why someone would be motivated to do that to me, even if true?

I vividly recall the thread of how the dogs supporters would get pissed on game day on cheap vodka and start finding eels supporters and throwing them into ditches and shit. Was the greatest thing I've read on TK. Is there a way to undeleet it?

It's really not that hard. I just want to do the triangle.

  • LA
  • Vegas
  • Florida
  • NY
  • All the good spots in between
  • Then fly back from NY to either SF or LA to come back to Sydney.

Wouldn't even bother with FL. Miami is boring af. I'd spend more time in Venice or Santa Monica. NY is awesome, but just expensive. Personally, I'd finish off in Hawaii just to relax then fly back home to Sydney.

Hawaii is sensational too. Maui a natural wonder.

Florida is meant To be good at the part where you can drive on the water. Haven't done it though.
Miami I imagine to be swelteringly humid and full of old midwestern peeps and drug peddling Latino refugees. Didn't do it for me. Not when you can do Vegas.
NY Worth the experience, go to Long Island for the real NY life and jersey shopping mall for cheap discounted clothes.

Picked up a 1k jacket for 100 bucks when I was there. I checked the Aussie price when I bought. Hottest jacket

The reason I wanted to go to Florida is so that I can go to Disney World, and of course check out the beaches. I know it's hot and humid, but that's why I want to check out the beaches. Miami and Daytona mainly. Tampa is possible and the Florida Keys.

I want to go to Hawaii too but that won't be on a USA trip, that will be a trip on its own.
