Yes

He seems too nice to be an NRL coach

I think his winning percentage speaks for it self.
Captain-Coach Dapto Won a premiership
Coach Bulldogs Canterbury cup premierships 3 years in a row.
Coach Bulldogs Nyc premierships
Coach St Helens 62 wins out of 78 over 3 years.
Not bad for being too nice..

And now he will ruin his good record by coaching the Titans.

I give him benefit of the doubt surely the titans can’t go any worse then they have the last few years . Losing Ryan games is a big loss

Great record it would have been nice to see what he could have done with our squad.
Not sure what he’ll do with that Titans squad though? It’s going to be tough winning games when you have Taylor defending next to Cartwright. Teams will target that side all season

To be honest his coaching credentials were and are better then pay. Pay might have more first grade experience. But he never had to manage personnel, set up plays, focus on salary cap, team balance etc in his role (defensive coach and rep coach).

From what I have seen 2 and a big years in he seems out of his depth. But I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and wait until the end of the year to judge.

I guess it will be an interested comparison as they both have squads that aren’t favoured to finish top 8 so will be good to see who gets more out of their squad (if the season continues).

I don’t know if this was true. But he was keen to come here in a head coaching capacity but we offered him an assistant role? Again I might be way off with that statement. If true it is disappointing. We could have had Mitchell as well but we wouldn’t give him fullback ahead of DWZ? Some silly decisions if they have an element of truth to them.

Anyways I’ll keep an eye on the tits to see what Holbrook does.

Better coach than Pay, quite relaxed in the interview and handles himself well

I'm a big fan of Holbrooks, his an ex doggies junior, cut his teeth successfully coaching lower grades at the dogs, if Sherwin wasn't favored ahead of Holbrook, Justin would have carved out I believe a great career at the Bulldogs as a player but it wasn't to be. So he left to the knights looking for an opportunity to play first grade. The rest as they say is history.

I wanted him to come home and take control of our first grade side thinking that Justin has plenty to offer our team. Besides his coaching record speaks for itself but we don't always get what we want such is life. It will be interesting to see how Justin handles the top job at the Titans and the comparisons that will be made at seasons end when we compare him to Pay.

If Titans finish higher than us, then our board will have a lot to answer for.

Saw him and Mal Meninga walking the foyer of sky city casino in Auckland.
Was going to congratulate them for winning the spoon this season but bit my tongue.

Holbrook spoke very impressively.
He has got a massive job ahead of him trying to turn a perennially shit team like the Titans into a competitive outfit. Bet he wishes he had the same good fortune as Robinson being gifted a team of 15 or so Test/Origin players.
Good luck to Holbrook, he seems like a great guy, hope he has a successful coaching career. He needs to piss Melonhead Mal out of the picture though, having that bloke around would be like trying to swim the English Channel with a car engine chained around your neck.

Mal would've been making a bee-line for the buffet.
Every time you see the Silverback in the dressing sheds he is hovering around the food table gorging his pie-hole. Director Of High-Performance???? Director Of fucken High-Cholesterol more like it.

Good coach, but he took on a horrible job...The Titans are a poisoned chalice and it wasn't the best career move. Although I understand him wanting an NRL job, he should have just waited it out until a better opportunity arose.

I still think he would have been perfect for our club and when we eventually replace Pay, a coach with the resume, demeanour and tactical nous of Holbrook would have been ideal. With all the good assistants like Demetriou and O'Brien now signed up, it is hard to see any viable candidates left right now to replace Pay.
