First of all, hats off to all the boys. Gritty, tough and resilient tonight. We lost the game on the scoreboard due to a fumble in goal.

We were the better side and didn't deserve to lose.

It's the first game of the year and "you shouldn't look" too much into it, there is some truth to it.

One exception - Lewis is atrocious in attack! He has had plenty of time to expand his game and he has not, and he definitely will not as the season goes on. He is absolutely clueless in attack. Consistently turns his back when he receives the ball in the attacking zone, his kicking and bombs are shocking, absolutely shocking.

Pay MUST drop Lewis and throw Cogger in. If Pay does not have any faith in Cogger or any other halves, use the 350k relief to bring in Josh Reynolds for 1 season.

Slap the 7 on Wakeham and let him guide the team around.

As mentioned, if Pay doesn't have faith in Cogger or any of the other halves of whats available, use that cap space on Reynolds for 1 year. There is absolutely nothing to lose.

One thing is certain and that is that we will not move forward with Lewis, and Brandon Wakeham must be given the crown to guide the team around the park.

Hats off to the entire 17 on the effort, grit, fitness and resilience tonight.

Cogger in and Lewis to lock. Smith isn't a centre so either wing or go to reggies to learn the centre's job. Why wasn't Holland played at all? Not saying I'm a fan but use your bench!

There is no room for Lewis in the 17.

Our forward pack looks fit and strong and there is no room for Lewis in that rotation

Disagree, he would secure up the middle and without the pressure of half then he can be used for the huge kicks and maybe an offload here and there.

There is talk Rapana wants back in the NRL if Japanese comp is closed due to the coronavirus. If we can use it on anyone and Pay is hell bent on leaving Remis at centre I think he would be ideal for 1 year deal.
Even though I think Meaney should be FB we could have this;
1. DWZ
2. Rapana
3. Smith
4. Hopoate
5. Meaney

Aside from the gritty performance in the most trying of circumstances, there were some shining lights individually.

Lewis looks like the right man to take the club forward in the halves. His passing was on point, kicking top notch and he aimed up in defence, as he always does.

There was plenty of talk about Wakeham's defence pre-match and the Eels sent plenty of traffic his way. He cut players twice his size down with regularity, though, and looks to have enough spark in attack to keep Jack Cogger out of the team.

I didn't enjoy seeing Lewis turn 280 degrees to pass inside. But that's my only criticism of him. It was generally because the backs were almost pushed onto the sidelines by the forwards drifting wide and he'd partially committed to spreading the ball to them before deciding they're too close to the touch line. I like Cogger as a player, but Wakeham was quiet for most of the game and took no pressure off by demanding the ball.
