I can't really answer that question. I don't make the laws..... I guess it has to do with the possibility of those photos leaking and becoming widely circulated. I don't think the law was ever really designed for grown men who are looking for no strings attached sex with teenagers in the first place. Perhaps some form of revision is needed.

Personally, I think the age of consent should be 40.... and even then, you should have to do it with your socks on.

Yes, the two apparently grown men should have known better and should not even have contemplated what they did. Trips away in the future will be pretty crowded events; playing squad, one minder for each of them. I have been disappointed and ashamed of past actions at the club but this one takes the cake.This one will stick for a long time to come and once again give others the ammunition to make their snide little remarks and put the boot it. Bulldogs star asked teen for intimate images, Snapchats reveal

The future of Jayden Okunbor looks to be all but over at the Canterbury Bulldogs after a series of Snapchat images emerged of the winger seemingly asking a 16-year-old schoolgirl for intimate photos.

Okunbor and teammate Corey Harawira-Naera have been stood down for bringing schoolgirls back to their hotel rooms ahead of the team's rugby league trial against Canberra last month.

NRL Canterbury Bulldogs rugby league player Jayden Okunbor allegedly communicating with a Port Macquarie schoolgirl via Snapchat.

In one image, Okunbor asks the schoolgirl to "show tits" before sending her a shirtless photo of himself.

The photos were sent to the Herald by a friend and former student of the school that the girl attends. The friend said the images were sent to the 16-year-old involved in the incident.


NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg says they are facing "significant sanctions" for alleged breaches of the competition's code of conduct. The NRL's integrity unit is aware of the Snapchat images.

Both the girls who returned to the Bulldogs hotel were above the age of consent and there is no criminal investigation.

The sex scandal comes as the Bulldogs prepare to play Parramatta in the season-opening game on Thursday night.

Both girls involved and both players have since deleted their Instagram accounts since news broke of the incident.

The exchange begins with her asking Okunbor "Having a good stalk?", to which Okunbor replies "Yeah had to have a good look, what are we doing tonight?".

The girl then replies "You" with a winking emoji before Okunbor asks: "we're (sic) you at the school today".

Both girls have also deleted their Instagram accounts.

Canterbury chair Lynne Anderson said the Bulldogs were "owning" the Port Macquarie sex scandal as a club as more revelations emerged about the pre-season affair that has left Okunbor and Harawira-Naera facing the sack.

The scandal has cost the club a $2 million major sponsorship deal with family restaurant chain Rashays.

Parents of both girls have been contacted by the Herald and did not wish to make any statement.

Good publicity lasts for just a moment bad publicity stays around like a terrible odour for as long as people make comments.I have already copped it at the gym this morning from a Roosters fan " Yeah mate see your dogs are in trouble AGAIN...." It's probably a good idea if a person looks like they could be under the legal age of consent when it comes to either sex itself, or sexting. I don't have Insta, but I would have thought that sort of info would be available on most profiles. In any case, I think the onus was on Okunbor to be sure.
