I think a sponsor less jersey does look odd, but other than aesthetics I can't understand anyone else's concern over the loss of a major sponsor... It shouldn't impact team performance in anyway... it's not as if the club is struggling for cash is it?

I understand the club being upset from a financial standpoint but why would any fan care if the club is generating some extra cash from a sponsor?

Agree. Johnston wanted out anyway and used Mad Monday as an excuse. This bloke seems genuinely disappointed and has at least left the door open for the future.

Serious question.... Why is everyone so concerned about a major sponsor? What significance is there besides jersey aesthetics ? Is it potential 3rd party deals we could miss out on?

Just tradition I think mate.
Companies can also sponsor for ground signage, digital and product opportunities. The CB1935 on the front because we didn’t need the money would be an outstanding result but although we’ve got a wealthy benefactor in the leagues club, we’re not quite in a position to and shouldn’t be turning down $1-2m.

Obviously it’s revenue... Kia was giving us top dollar to be on our jersey. But I get the whole haha your jersey doesn’t have a sponsor talk... Jackson was being laughed at by other captains saying did you get your jersey from best and less lol

Yep I agree. I don’t get why some fans care about the clubs revenue anyway, especially if they don’t contribute to revenue with memberships for example

They said on NRL 360 the Leagues Club is going to pick up the sponsorship. There might be a picture on the jersey but we are essentially throwing money away.

Mate, I went to Rashays at Darling harbour a couple of weeks ago and I found a bit of paper in my burger. I told the lady I wanted to replace the burger and they gave a whole new meal . I'm glad I got two free meals, but how the hell can the chef not see that a bit of plastic fall on my burger?
