The girls were legal age.. didn’t break the law, stood down..
Curtis Scott, assaulted coppers drunk and disorderly tasered, free to play..
Sivo, sexually harassed or assaulted a woman, free to play...
Feel for chn and okunbor. Silly decision but they haven’t broken the law.. how are they stood down..

Above the age of consent and it was mutual.

While maybe stupid, questionable and immoral, not much to see here

Really hoping that this turns out to be nothing too major. The update on the NRL websites article seems to be trying to down play it as a major thing.

"Neither Okunbor or Harawira-Naera are under criminal investigation. The females involved are over the age of consent, which is 16 in NSW, and neither they or their families have complained to the club, the NRL or the NSW police."

Source

They got up to something with females that are 17 or over, perhaps with a school context involved, which makes it a lot worse than it otherwise would be, but it doesn't fall under the Crimes Act. They have the chance to state to the club and NRL why they shouldn't receive further disciplinary action. The club speaks of "concluding the process". They both trained with the other players yesterday.

It might be a case where they cop a suspension/fine, then so far as the game and club are concerned the matter is dealt with, notwithstanding the utter stupidity of doing something like this in their position and how it effects the club in terms of sponsors, school clinics, and community good will.

How it effects their personal lives is a whole other matter.

Poor girls. Okunbor would have destroyed them. He would be packing 12 inches easy.

For those thinking its nothing compared to Scott and the Sivo its actually a lot worse.

Those guys might have done things that result in charges but they were not while they were on official club time.

These dills have accepted phone numbers from school girls during school visits, that is a serious breach of department of ed policy and procedures. I am sure the players have had lessons on how to do school visits, so this is just plain dumb.

This reflects on the whole code, schools will now be not so comfortable having teams visit them.

Then you have the fact they started the texting with the girls , as they met them at a school visit that could be seen as grooming (did they give the girls the idea they wanted their phone numbers and were keen??? who knows but by using the numbers they get into this grey area)

They then bought them into the team hotel, once again this while they are "working", representing the club, not at a night club or bar and taken them to a random hotel room.

These guys will have their contracts ripped up, careers over,

the best we can hope for is its quick and we can spend the extra cap space this season
So far this whole idea that they picked up girls from a school visit and even the allegations that they bought women back to the hotel rooms is unsubstantiated information. None of the reports have used definitive language that shows anything but rumour. This might be a media blow up and people are buying it hook Line and sinker.

If it is all true it's incredibly stupid, sleazy and shows a huge lack of appreciation for the privileged position they're in. But the fact that the club hasn't said anything about what their breach is gives me some hope that it's not going to be as bad for the image of the club as this.

How many schoolgirls across the country are in relationships with men who have finished school? Would all of those guys lose their jobs?
If they have had any association with the school in a non-student capacity, it is very likely they would, yes.

Legal age or not, it's creepy, sleazy and not a good look. Would any of you want your 17 year old daughter still in high school hooking up with a 24 year old footy player? Probably not..

You might say it's only a 7 year age gap and the girls are responsible enough to make their own decisions, and they are.

But 17 is still a naive enough age to not have your head screwed on straight or know better, or to be bamboozled by a celebrity footy player coming to town..

A 24 year old professional footy player that could probably hook up with any other random groupie that's not still in high school should also know better, especially to not bring them back to the team hotel.

So is this the crime of the century? No.. Are they sleazes, creeps and have they put the club in a bad light when our club has a bad enough history with incidents with women? Absolutely, and for that I commend the club for taking action.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Anyone defending this or acting like it’s a non issue need to give themselves a fucking uppercut.

I think those who don’t see a problem forget that they invited the girls back to there apartment while on a official nrl and bulldogs visit.

Thus they have put the game and club in a poor position. What schools will want nrl players visiting? This is the issue here. What if they were lying about being 18.

the club is bigger than any player. And the club has done the right thing in self reporting and letting the nrl handle it.

People are missing the point they aren’t getting punished for the actual sex. It’s the fact that they met them at a club school visit and brought them back to the team hotel.

The club has to have some standards and if a player breaks them there has to be repercussions for it.

What if they were teachers aid or staff people are making the assumption they are school girls. It looks like the main issue is they broke team protocols.
Because they were students lol.
