Why in fucks name was this not dealt with INHOUSE.
Because no doubt In a few weeks time it would have come out and the NRL would have done an investagtion anyway. Then we would have been dragged over hot coals in the press for trying to cover something up.

Good move imo, suspend them for a game, fine then some bucks and move on

There we go..for taking two teenage girls back to their motel...not underage girls.... so legally in the clear and so far nothing that has been complained about........silly boys, but if they were just normal joes no one would bat an eyelid. Call it poor form if you like but not illegal.

So as far as I understand the matter, from what was spoken about just then on Nine, behaving like a normal person and even though people would frown upon it they have done nothing wrong. They have broken the 'NRL' law not the common law....Only that they sign a declaration saying they will not go against the NRL code of conduct they will be disciplined.

Don't think their partners will be very happy or forgiving but that is a personal matter that they need to deal with themselves.

I'm sure if it happened a month or two ago like the other cases we they would be playing. It's just that it happened so close to the first game.

So fucking dumb. These ***** better win LOL

They broke club/team protocols. Drop them for a game and hit their back pockets - fair enough

But why the fuck would you notify the NRL and let a nothing story hit the headlines?

Deal with it in house you pussy's
Could you imagine what the NRL would do if we did not come clean? I can see the headlines now....The club has made a statement showing that they have better scruples than the body charged to run the game. The NRL dealing in house is to punish certain clubs one way and some another.

I think everything has to be reported to the integrity unit then they see if they agree with the punishment.

Probably the NRL views it as bringing the game into disrepute..Article does say they received a show cause notice..

Channel 9 saying that they met the girls during a school visit.
Ick, if that proves to be true it makes things really bad. Schools have tight regulations around interactions between students and non-students, mostly as a response to the appalling cases of grooming that have come to light over the last 10 years. It would be an awful look to the school, let alone the players and club. If true, imagine how other schools are going to respond if the Bulldogs offer them a coaching clinic...

What's there to come clean with the NRL, if the players broke team/club protocols?

It's a club matter, which needs to be kept in house.

If it was a criminal act, than fair enough

Sets a precedent for the rest of the playing group and it's clear to them that there won't be any exceptions. You either tow the bulldogs code of conduct or fuck off.

Probably also saves the shirt sponsor to show the club's values , not these two players, the clubs

Fucking meatheads. I don’t care if they were legal, they’re just legal and it’s just propagation of the bad old days.

Hope they dock them the pay for the number of weeks they are stood down.

I hope they’re both single

They have also been deemed to have broken the NRL code of conduct too.

Professional athletes picking up schoolgirls and taking them back to their hotel is never going to be a "nothing story". Although they are the legal age of consent and probably look a lot older than 17 or 18, it's a really poor look for the game and the club, especially when we're struggling to get a sponsor. To put things in perspective, when most of us were getting up this morning to go to work, these girls were heading off to school.

Suspended Bulldogs players ‘met two girls during high school visit’

The Bulldogs players at the centre of a new NRL scandal are alleged to have met two girls during a school visit on a pre-season trip to Port Macquarie earlier this month.

Kiwi Test forward Corey Harawira-Naerea and Bulldogs winger Jayden Okunbor have both been issued with show-cause notices by the NRL after Canterbury-Bankstown self-reported the incident to the game’s governing body.

Both players have been asked to “show cause” why the NRL should not cancel or suspend their registrations as players.

Earlier, Daily Telegraph reporter Dean Ritchie revealed on NRL Tonight on Tuesday night that the allegation of misconduct related to an incident at Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid-North Coast, where the Bulldogs played a trial match against the Raiders two weeks ago.
“While neither player is the subject of a criminal investigation, the club is treating the matter very seriously. The allegations are that each player engaged in behaviour that represents a serious breach of the NRL rules and the Bulldogs’ code of conduct, resulting in the NRL notice.

“The club supports the NRL’s decision to issue the breach notices and will continue to work with the NRL to conclude the process.

“Both players have an opportunity to respond to the matters alleged in the breach notice before any final decision is made.”

Harawira-Naera would have been starting in the backrow against the Eels and Okunbor was tipped to win a spot on the wing ahead of Christian Crichton.

They just had the Michael Chammas on Triple M and the club only found out about it on Friday and they have been doing interviews since.

The girls are legal age too.
No not really, it’s still a breach of conduct. May not be illegal but still. But it’s us, which just magnifies the problem even more.
Yes it's stupid and they deserve to be punished, but the original statement from the club and all the rumours made it out like it was something horrible.
