Whatever the team is, Brandon Wakeham must be in the 17

There are a couple of things that we know are basically 100%. Remus at centre and Okunbour in the side. Some things that are 50/50 include halves, Stimson starting and where and Jmk injured.

With that and guessing the 50/50 I'll go with:

  1. Dwz
  2. Meany
  3. Smith
  4. Hoppa
  5. Okunbour
  6. Lewis
  7. Wakeham
  8. Tolman
  9. JMK
  10. Napa
  11. Jacko
  12. CHN
  13. Elliott
  14. Katoa
  15. Toomonga
  16. Britt/Ogden
  17. Stimson

I wonder if dean has the team set in stone already,
I have no doubt that there are certain starters 100%
Is there a chance were someone like Okunbor could play himself out of the team if performances in trials are not too good
Or that the preseason games count for absolute zip,I personally think the latter to be honest

I think it'd be set with the question mark on Jayden, an old style player like Dean will not be content with arm grabbing

Think of the worst 17 possible and that's exactly Dean Pays rd 1 side, barring injuries.

Pay has backed himself into a corner moving Reimis because I can't see anyone besides Okunbor getting that vacant wing spot.

Crichton would be the only other option and I can't see Pay doing something outside the box.

I personally am happier to see Smith in the centres with Jayden on the wing, opposed to Smith on the wing and some dud at centre.. if Jayden can just back himself a bit more there is plenty of potential there

I'd rather keep Smith on the wing and give Harper or Averillo a run at centre. If its Okunbor and Smith on one side it will be very nerve wracking in defence.

Harper has more potential than Okunbor in my opinion.

I am a big fan of Harper.. just has that win at all cost mentality...think he could force his way into the top team and remain there. Will be interesting to see what happens over the next few months

I reckon Averillo at 14 is a ideal way to bring him into grade he can also cover the whole backline

Didn't pick the following
RFM - injured
JMK - in extreme doubt
Adam Elliott - under cloud but I wouldn't have picked him but no doubt pay will

Holland seems to be the forgotten man without Nasheed on this forum. Is it possible pay finds a spot for blue eyes in the 17?

I'm not sold on Remis getting that center spot, I think Harper should get it, I think he is ready. He had one first grade game and handled it pretty well. Remis is great on the wing leave him there and I really have had enough of Okunbor and his rocks and diamonds performances and don't want him in the first grade squad again.

But it seems likely Pay is going to play Remis at center and I hope it doesn't turn into the 2020 version of the Hoppa at FB, Montoya at center and Meany left right out experiment he went with at the beginning of last season

Meaney - left wing
Hoppa - right centre
Harper - left centre
Smith - right wing
Lewis
Cogger
Tolman
Katoa
Napa
CHN - right edge
Jackson - left edge
Britt

Wakeham / Averillo
Stimson
To'omaga
Elliot

Our right side attack thru Hoppa and Smith was pretty much our only attacking threat last year, there's no need to change it, giving Harper a shot at left centre.
With an inexperienced left side wing / centre, I'd have Lewis and Jackson defending on the left, leaving CHN and Cogger on the right in the defensive line.
From the 9's, Britt looks like a good option at 13, sharing time with Elliot.
Stimson provides an edge option so Jackson can play thru the middle or in case of injury to an outside back, CHN moves to centre and Stimson to the edge.
With Pay likely to start the season with Lewis and Cogger in the halves, Wakeham and Averillo will benefit from time in the NRL squad, they can have a few games each as bench utility, play a similar role to Papenhauzen last year for the storm or cover for hooker. I'd rotate the two players every few games so they can still play reggies and continue to develop.
Katoa gets the start at hooker with JMK under done after an injury effected pre-season, but I'd expect JMK to be pushing for the 9 jersey once fit.
Once RFM comes back from injury he'll be pushing for a bench spot.

You forgot Elliot the coaches pet starting and dropping balls for 80 minutes

I know you're joking but given how absolutely shocking the lineup was in round 1 2019, its not beyond imagination that pay will get it dead wrong again.
