it is said harry grant to the tigers
Yes, but it's a swap deal because the Tigers need a hooker for 2020 (Grant) and the Storm need a centre (Momirovski) and they return to their respective clubs in 2021 - at least that's the plan. NRL still have to approve it.

Only 4 other teams are as poor as us for recruiting for 2020 so far (Warriors, Sea Eagles, Storm and Titans). Some clubs have already purchased for 2021 (Tigers, Souths, Titans). I thought we might have identified a few good young prospects for 2021 and signed them by now but no nothing. I read today an article which said Harry Grant knocked us back recently preferring the Melbourne system. If true we're even having trouble getting the young up and coming players so what hope have we got signing proven game breakers for cheap. Wouldn't we all agree that bringing in players like DWZ can make a hell of a difference. We need more like him but the reality is we're going to have to pay overs - more than any other club is prepared to - for them to come to us.This Dogs DNA requirement thing seems a bit of an excuse.
Latest on Grant.

Firstly I think there's stuff people don't know and hence there's a lot of speculation.
A guy like Harry Grant of course would stay in Melbourne - this is Cameron Smith's last year and Grant likely has first shot at the 9 jersey when Smith goes - why uproot your life and move interstate when you've got a plum job waiting for you where you are?
And who knows what people's personal circumstances are - maybe he's got a partner who's settled in Melbourne and doesn't want to leave. To assume that he 'knocked us back because he preferred the Melbourne system' written in some media article is just that - assumption.
I still don't buy the 'have to pay overs' argument. And do we really want to go down that path again? T-Rex was overs and he was rubbish. Foran not rubbish but has not provided ROI. You can't just throw money at players and think that solves your problem.
Even if there's some element of truth to the 'overs' argument - we can't afford it for 2020 - this seems to be a concept that some still can't get their head around. From 2021 is different.
You are correct in regards to Grant.

It all comes down to the individual ("player manager")!

Another example is a young Ash Taylor. He chose the big pay day at the Titans and totally stuffed up his continued development, which he probably doesn't give a rats about at $1m per year

Yes and that's exactly why I think the club is being careful and saying nothing publicly.
People love to take the piss out of the 'DNA' thing - but they've made clear they want the right players - they have to fit.
Imagine spending big dollars on someone for 2021 (let's take Taylor as an example) and they give you very little in return. Titans got the quinella with Taylor and Hayne.
I'd like to see us avoid a similar mistake.

Can’t make “good signings” (your definition) with no cap space. What limited cap space we have had has been put to good use IMHO. We had just enough to grab CHN last year plus DWZ for half a season, which becomes a full season in our cap this year. Stimson and Katoa are examples of a good use of limited cap space this year. Britt is training the house down and could prove to be a solid value for money acquisition.

There has been plenty of movement in regards to recruitment and retention for 2021 and beyond, with the likes of Latrell Mitchell and Jai Arrow suring up their long-term futures.

I feel like we must be going after players but missing out on them because they do not want to come to our club. Like surely we chased people like Latrell, but why would players of that level come to a club who is not making the finals, has an unproven coach, and no exciting other new signings? We just do not look enticing...
No doubt our reputation frightens off some players, plus we don't have a recognised coach they might want to learn from. We have to develop by ourselves.
If the Dogs do OK this year, that will be the making of Pay as a coach, and the teams' reputation will begin to attract talent.

PENRITH PANTHERS
They've shed the likes of Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Waqa Blake (both to the Eels) recently - but who are the Panthers looking to bring in?

ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS
Some of the Dragons biggest names are without deals for 2021, and that is not a good thing at a time of such uncertainty at Kogarah.

Tyson Frizell and Jack de Belin are off-contract at the end of 2020 - however, the latter's situation largely depends on his court case early this year.

Luciano Leilua has been granted an early release from his contract, joining the Wests Tigers on a three-year deal.

They have picked up experienced hooker Issac Luke for 2020 as a back-up for Cam McInnes.

Tristan Sailor has re-signed for the 2020 season, but will be available for 2021.

Zaz Lomax has confirmed his future at the club for the foreseeable future, signing a five-year deal.

Jonus Pearson has been released from the final year of his deal to sign a deal with the Titans.

The club have reportedly been looking at offloading the likes of Euan Aitken and Matt Dufty.

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS
The Rabbitohs have been very active in the player market recently, picking up Latrell Mitchell for 2020, and Jai Arrow for 2021 and beyond.

Cody Walker has re-signed on a two-year deal despite plenty of speculation he would move elsewhere in 2021.

Alex Johnston and Liam Knight headline their list of unsigned stars.

SYDNEY ROOSTERS
Latrell Mitchell has departed the club, signing with the Rabbitohs and leaves a massive hole in the side.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves has re-signed with the club on a three-year deal, that will almsot certainly see him finish his career at Bondi.

Jospeh Manu and Siosiua Taukeiaho recently extended their stays at the premiers on long-term deals.

Nat Butcher remains unsigned past 2020.

Full list:

  • Mitch Aubusson
  • Nat Butcher

WESTS TIGERS
Everything was relying on whether or not Ryan Matterson would still be at the club - and we now know that he will not be, after being granted a release on October 31st.

The club have picked up the Leilua brothers - Joey and Luciano - for the 2020 season and beyond.

Ben Matulino has been medically retired, which frees up a lot of space in their salary cap.

2020 will likely be Benji Marshall's last season in the NRL, but it is believed his contract is only a small one.

I've seen a video clip of Dylan Napa spreading his Bulldog DNA, does that help?

I have no doubt that if we can have a solid season and crack the top 8 then we will become more attractive to players looking for a change. Money is not everything these days, players want to play finals and if we look like we’re on the up then it might just get us over the line with a few players. Souths have an obvious advantage in getting players like latrell and addo Carr due to their indigenous connection and that would be a huge draw card for them to go. I like to think we’ve always had a pretty strong kiwi influence and there’s no reason why we can’t lure over some of the best young kiwi talent especially with Corey, dallin, Jeremy and foz around

Can the kennel please force auto correct on the words 'loose' and 'loosing'? it's lose and losing ffs.
Haha the thing I don’t get is that most people would go their whole life and not speak the word loosing in a sentence either haha
