I don't know why hilly is whinging to be honest.
The rule is clear cut, and besides what's he gunna do with the extra cash anyway be it 350k or 1.2M?
It's not as if he has a good track record in recruiting anyone of note....but we all hope he will announce something soon, his first real feather in his cap
He’s hasn’t had the opportunity to yet but I’m sure he’ll prove you wrong.
The rule is clear cut BUT he’s trying to get it changed

Missed out on plenty so far.
Stop making excuses, our recruitment is phucked.
We have made offers to at least 20 players so far ...success rate :: a dinkum donut ...
They even went shopping with Ferrari money
( turbo boys,fafita,haas,etc). Another dinkum donut ...
They spent how much $$ for 2 x trips to the UK for benny hill....another dinkum donut...( maybe some duty free)..
Have you honestly expected us to recruit top line talent with our cap situation? We are shopping at Toyota but we can only afford a LDV

This just shows that you’re only speculating with no real info mate. Maybe that’s why you’re so upset

Agreed mate. Perhaps the NRL should introduce a cap for medically retiring marquee players, let’s say $350K per player! Geez I wonder if Souths would’ve medically retired GI and SB if the limit was capped to $350K mmmm I think not! Same goes for Gillette at the Broncos, they only medically retired him to free up $ to re sign Fifita when Boyd would not budge, the rorting is so transparent! At least our case for asking for more relief $$$ is legit, in Souths and Broncos case it’s straight up exploitation to gain players heavily sought after by clubs that haven’t won a premiership in over a decade.
This should be rule for medical retirements, cap relief for the player’s contract up to $350k pa. Up to the club to take care of contractual obligations with the player.

Yeah sorry the media who according to people's agenda don't know anything have linked us to fantasy players so we must have made bids......it's honestly laughable.

The money can be used to recruit any player and it does not have to be a like for like replacement for Foran.

Deja vu all over again.

Since the last time we debated this I have spoken to a player agent and he is of the same view as me. There is no reason we can't register an NRL contract for a player at $350k to play while Foran is injured and then sign the same player to a separate NRL registered contract for the rest of the season. Obviously we have to have the Cap space to fit the 2nd contract, we would also have to have a spare spot in the 30 (after Foran returns) and the contract would have to be registered with the NRL before 30 June.

Go Dogs
Well, that's the problem, isn't it? If we were granted the full $1 million plus to spend this year, what happens when Foran comes back next season? Our only way around it is to use the $350 k, and set up a back ended contract with full payment after Foran's contract expires.

Its our own stupid fault for letting a delusional, fatigued, injury prone 'team' member play rep footy whilst he should have hung up the boots for the rest of the season and just chilled. Maybe the club should have done the responsible thing, looked to the bigger picture like fans did before he took the field knowing he'd get injured and telling him to pull his fuckin head in and sit out the off season. Lewis is our senior half this year, that is a bitter pill to swallow.
I said before the game the club was weak and stupid to allow him play, absolute no brainer yet our club couldn't get it done. Anyone with half a brain knew Foran needed to rest before heading into a full pre season, not play a fucking international after he done fuck all for us.

Like the image. Only 78 records break like that. There aren't too many modern quality turntables around today that will play a 78 - Thorens is about the only one I can readily think of; and you need a dedicated stylus.

Yes - and you'd have to have an extensive collection of 78's and/or be a diehard to invest in such specialist kit.

Not sure the club can do that mate.
From what I’ve been told clubs can only contractually enforce stopping players doing things outside footy that could potentially seriously injure them eg: boxing in the off-season. If it’s footy and the player wants to play and is eligible for selection I don’t think the club can stand in their way. Hence this whole compensation argument for when a player gets injured playing rep footy and it hurts the club.
I thought part of the deal was that the club releases/gives a player consent to play rep, that the club has final say. Hopefully someone who knows 100% can chime in.
Surely the Club has influence with his injuries and rehabs the last 2 years to say no. He'd play in a wheel chair if you'd let him. At the end of the day for myself as a fan it simply comes down to common sense and the bigger picture. We are a professional sports organization with people payed big dollars to manage a depleted cap. A cap that we are repairing. t was a massive gamble whos only reward was Forans pride/love or even ego to play for his country. It just makes no sense to me. Now the club using Burgess case as ammo is unprofessional. Im annoyed with the whole Foran thing (can you tell ) buts thats the last time Im gonna winge about it. Looking forward to the start of the season.
