Now they have silent discos and act childish.
Wtf is a silent disco?
When I was a kid we had the youth blue light disco.

I'm pretty sure that disco was organised by the police to discourage drug and alcohol abuse amongst teens?

Teen drug use was a major snowflake topic in the 1990s.

I think every generation will think there better than the next
And we done itbetter and we done that harder and blah blah blah
There be people who grew up in the 60’ 70’s 80’s that think we’re soft cocks and didn’t know how to party
And this generation will think the next are soft cocks

Any one who thinks they done it better than the last or the next are full of shit

Not really?
Gen X took things to a whole new level!
I still haven't come down from 2002!
A millennial will never know what its like?

I do speak with a cool baby boomer from time to time.
I feel like I missed out on lsd and all the other fucked drugs that were getting around in those days.

I agree with you to a point but that last bit is bullshit.. Each generation tends to improve on the last. The 50's had Elvis, the 60s had Beatles plus Elvis, the 70's had disco plus Elvis plus Beatles, 80s Madonna, Metallica etc, 90s added some cocaine, strip joints more music, the naughties removed strip joints, had curfews on noise pollution.. Introduced Netflix and uber eats and music is Shit...

I think the young people of today have seen that what might appear good on the short term, is not good in the long term.. the drinking and drug culture in Australia is not something we should be proud of

In the words of Mary Hopkin "Those were the days my friend"

Late 90's early 2000's was a great time for clubbing. I can say I spent a majority of my 18-24 years partying at night clubs with mates, pickin up chicks and dirty dancing with them, shots, shots and more shots. I wasted some money back then but I enjoyed doing it.

I absolutely hated clubbing and still do, but everytime my cousin comes back from Mykonos I am slightly tempted to make the next trip over with him lol.

My clubbing days are long gone, it was just while I was young and chasing chicks.

I want to go to Mykonos, maybe when I hit my mid life crisis!!

I always preferred house parties, didn't trigger my anxiety and way easier to get away with a few things.

Yh some of the videos my cousin shows me are absolutely wild, like I don't even know how to process some of the things that are happening haha.

We would always pop into Gateway on the way to the city for a few JD and Cokes which were on the house.

Your post brings back so many fond memories - DCM, Homebar, Black Market, Tunnel, Sugar Reef, Soho, Chinese Laundry, B&B, Candys, Club Troppo Gosford, GO, Embassy

I wonder if any of these clubs are still around?

I recently drove passed Oxford Street and the X on a Saturday evening, and it looked absolutely dead

The memories are flowing back rapidly.

If you were after skanky aussies, ud go to Carmens in Miranda on a Saturday night and Kings Head Tavern on Fridays.

If you were after MILF's ud go to Jacksons on George and if u cbf going there ud go to PJ's in Parra.

Sunday Greenwood Hotel in North Sydney, or that palace place in Parra (forgot the name)

World Bar Wednesday nights

I experienced the tail end of the good years and the start of the shit years. My answer to your worries... leave Australia and go to Europe for a few years until the idea of clubbing makes you sick! haha

All seriousness the clubbing these days is sad, expensive and not worth it. People don't dance, talk or know how to even have a good time anymore. It's not their fault, they're just a product of the times.
Same. I remember when DCM turned from a shithole, to a good club, and then, shithole again. I remember when Gelato at the Veranda Bar used to go off. I remember Cave at the Casino. Establishment on Saturday nights when it was good. All the areas around Cockle Bay when they were ripe and Bar 333 before it got leveled. I had a mate who worked as a bartender in the Hilton in the city, Blue on Woolloomooloo and Lincoln in the Cross, and we'd get free cocktails from him all night while others were paying $20 a pop... and then finishing off a good night of clubbing at either Harry's or Pancakes on The Rocks.

Yep, I thrashed Sydney for everything it had back in the days. Now... the nightlife here is non existent. It's either The Star or nothing.

Why is The Star excluded? Because the State Government has their finger in their pocket - that's why.

Now kids go to freaking Marquee and get exited whenever a guest DJ like Alex K comes out of retirement for one night only. LOL. Or going to a 'music festival' here in Sydney dressing like clothes they picked up from the St. Vinnies dumpster. LMFAO.

These kids won't know a good time until they hit the clubs in Western Europe (such as Berlin or Spanish & Greek Isles) and won't know a music festival until they hit Tomorrowland (Belgium).

Hahaha man I just got goosebumps hearing a few of those names and reminiscing.

Did all the European clubbing before, during and after living in London. Honestly amazing how the body adapts to non-stop partying hahaha

I still don't know how I did 7 straight days of Sziget. Routine was wake up at 11AM, drink Vodka for breakfast, Eat cheap Buffet with bottomless drinks (All the restaurants in Budapest were dirt cheap), head down to the festival, party from 2PM-6AM and repeat 7 days straight.

Then there were the Greek Islands and Ibiza. Tan in the day and getting absolutely plastered in the night.

So many good times and stories out of there. I wouldn't be where I am today without those experiences. I met the future wife travelling and literally got the party completely out of my system haha. I'm a content man today. lol
