The Cronulla Sharks will shut down their Leagues Club and move all home games away from Shark Park for two years to allow builders to complete the final stage of their Woolooware redevelopment in January.

Ten “home” games will be played at Kogarah Oval and another two in Darwin and on the Sunshine Coast in 2020 and 2021 before the club can return to its traditional home.

The closure of the Leagues Club is a huge short-term blow to finances.

It will cost at least $3 million from poker machine profits but officials believe the long-term gains from a new licensed club in 2022 far outweigh the losses over two years.

Interesting times ahead for the Sharks this could absolutely cripple them if there's delays!

They will defiantly lose a massive advantage when they aren't playing at that swamp in the Shire.

Their crowds will be even worse at Kogarah. They're bad enough at Shark Park, but we all know Cronulla fans can't make the 20 minute drive from Woolooware to Kogarah.

Yesterday Cronulla's CEO left by "mutual agreement" which usually means he was sacked.

I know someone heavily involved in the Sharks and they are in huge financial trouble.

They have blown the money from the apartments and it will be very interesting when they go belly up!

They’ll get bailed out by the NRL of course.

Just merge them with the Dragons already and play all the games in Wollongong. With that extra spot add a Perth team.
