There isnt real assessment wendog.

Their (lnps) complete stance were lies, misinformation, blame (after 6 years they were still blaming), more lies, media favouritism, and they got over the line.

Gladys Liu and Josh frydenburg were found to decieve voters in the election but the high court refused to overturn the result or call a by election because they couldn't justify that those lies affected the outcome of the vote.

But its all head in the sand stuff, all this shit is ignored.
I know. Friedenberger's campaign manager admitted they were designed to deceive. You can now put up any kind of trickery. They were convicted on 2 charges but the result stays.

And they reckon it's corrupt in China and Indonesia! Pfffttt.

People deathriding the "show leadership" tale. What is the **** going to do or say to keep everyone "secure" and fill them with "hope"?

If you questioned his policies with cutting back funding to public services and explaining the $4b foreign aid they dish out, than that's fair game, and I want to know these answers.....
Well, he hasn't shown any leadership, for which I, and millions of others, will be critical. Hardly deathriding. Is there some sort of time limit on criticism?

I am happy to question the government cutting back public services, and in the past have been critical of that.

As for foreign aid (or whatever they call it these days), how the money is spent/allicated is found on the internet. The efficiency of aid can absolutely be improved (like all gov't spending there is plenty of waste), but the figure has been dropping, and for an alleged developed nation, I think 0.2% of GNI is shockingly low. But that's a discussion for another day tbh.

Come on bud..think about..it’s about getting out there being seen..look like he’s caring..not coming after the backlash..getting together with the experts..asking what do we need to do..be part of getting the wheels turning to enable the experts to do what they have to do...Get out and explain it to the press..be proactive.. You guys all got an excuse for him.. The bloke went on holidays while his country was burning.. I don’t begrudge a PM having a holiday..it’s a tough gig..but it was a completely inappropriate time to do it..why do you think his party tried to cover it up..he should have known that..that is leadership..
The right time to go on holiday is when you have booked it. The situation got worse while he was on holidays, not much he can do. Maybe he should get a crystal ball from you to see if it would become a national emergency before going on holidays.

Apparently it's in goods and services, food etc that helps our farmers and businesses anyway?

But no let's keep what's ours, be mean, stingy bastards to everyone... not just Australians.

However I do not believe in monetary aid to any country that has a bigger army than ours. They therefore must have their priorities all wrong, or a neoliberal, thatcherite, or totalitarian government who also rip off their people.

And your excuse for the NSW Emergency Minister who left the front as the severity unfolded, to go on holdays?

Indigenous people managed the land with controlled burns. They did not start out of control bushfires that destroyed the land they needed for their livelyhood.

Bushfires are as much a part of the environmental landscape as floods and droughts. Cook noticed bushfires along the east coast in 1770.

There were 108 separate fires in NSW alone and the Gospers blaze was declared close to 400,000 hectares in size on the Sunday before he left.

23 former Fire and Emergency chiefs tried in April and May to have meetings with Morrison about the upcoming fire season which he declined.

Crystal ball or...?

It's a pity the "current" fire and emergency chiefs can't say anything and probably have been quietly threatened with repercussions if they tell it like it is.

The ex guys are their mouthpiece in this have no doubt.

Unfortunately the politics and fear of loosing your job, and the new whistle blower vigilante legislation will be a primary consideration.

Like the ATO guy who exposed the rorts and illegal treatment of innocent taxpayers.

And the Robodebt illegalities.

But no Scomo is a good, likeable daggy dad Sharks supporter guy and we have nothing to be worried about.

This could've been in the Grind My Gears thread, but I'm interested in a wider discussion about this.

Now, I'm a fan of ScoMo, however, I'm really trying to see this outrage from an unbiased perspective, and I just don't see it.

Our Prime Minister is flesh and blood, human, like the rest of us. He is also a man who is strong, and open. He is doing his best to do a fair job (which is by no means easy) and, and as far as I'm concerned, is the best PM we've had since John Howard.

People are outraged that he went on a holiday. Why? He is entitled to go on a holiday. There are ALWAYS going to be problems in the country, and he has every right to go on a holiday and take a break like the rest of us. What can he do, what possible difference will it make if he's here in the country or not? His physical presence here in Australia will not stop the nation from burning. It will not make the slightest bit of difference whether he is here or not, and he is NOT deserting us, he is simply going on a vacation.

If he decides to visit the affected areas after his holiday is over, is that so bad? He's still doing the deed, just at a later date.

I'm sorry if you disagree, but the way I see this is people who complain over this are people who most likely didn't vote for him in the first place, people who are upset with what has happened to their homes/land (hey, we are one country, it affects us all), and people who just like to whine and complain - like vegans.
The PM is flesh and blood and wanted a holiday. Really?

Pretty sure all the firies out there are flesh and blood too. Bet more than a few of them promised their families Christmas Holidays that didn't happen because of this. What if they all had the same attitude and just stopped doing what they were doing to go on holidays.

I won't go into the politics of it all. This isn't a Liberal vs Labor thing. This is a Scomo PM thing. He is being judged on HIS performance as our countires leader. No one gives a shit if Shorten would have been better or worse. It is about what we expect of our PM.

At the end of the day Scomos attitude in leaving on holidays comes accross as I deserve a holiday while you guys put your lives on line, the I am more important than you attitude.

He should have been in Australia, supporting the families who have lost everything and the fire fighters risking their lives not getting a tan on Waikiki Beach.

Global warming did not work out as intended so they changed the term to climate change. It's a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Why can't the excusers see this?

"What if they all had the same attitude and just stopped doing what they were doing to go on holidays".

Excusers probably say no one's stopping them from going to Hawaii if they so choose. They want to be there at the fires after all.

Would you go on holidays, lie about your whereabouts to your extended family, grudgling say you'll come back early and tacitly say it's your kids fault cos you promised them their 3rd holiday this year and leave your parents to fight fires to protect your home. After having called into question a fellow official's integrity to go on holidays and leave the job years before. No you wouldn't. Not quite the same but on the same level of culpability.

Since when did this kind of attitude become ok with Australians and even worse, some abuse those who think it's poor form.

What a good point. It is a state issue. I did not even realise that lol. What has grelkjekin done?
Hey possums are just as important as children and the elderly lol
So it's a state issue only is it?

Maybe we should buy Scomo a fiddle as he has no responsibility at all to the Australian public that voted him in.

How silly of anyone to thing the PM could help.

On reflection a lot are sorry he didn't extend his well earned holiday in Hawaii (and NY to see the Manhatton skyscraper 3 floors Hillsong's God just bought for them).

You said it earlier. People see things along political lines now not about right and wrong.

I have seen posters on here saying what could Scomo do? He isn't a firefighter, He isn't a specialist on Fire management.

Well after a few beers at lunch I have a couple of ideas-

Comfort and supplies for the the firefighters and people who have lost their homes. Accomodation.

Th US has 30 fire bombing planes sitting around doing nothing. NSW Gov. finally leased one yesterday. Just one. How about he uses some federal money to lease another 6.

Set up infrastructure to help the people who have lost their homes deal with insurances companies instaed of letting then get screwed over again when all of this is over and insuers want to save money.

He could have set up Xmas parties for the families of the firefighters and presents for their kids as a thank you while the volunteers do the heavy lifting.

How about paying their utility bills so they don't come back to a financial mess after all of this.

Make banks put a hold on mortgage repayments for volunteers while they aren't working. Deal with emplyoyers to guarentee that these people have jobs to come back to.

You know, be a leader and support your people.

Instead he announced that public servants will get paid emergency leave. A policy that has existed since the 70s.
