Now some people here might recall me complaining about trams and how they are tacking our nation backwards by all the problems they are currently causing, or being caused to them, such as cars being caught in traffic across the trams lines that prevent them from taking off.

Well... by saying that we've gone backwards, I was actually wrong...

https://www.smh.com.au/politics/nsw...ye6AgYdpOslkO2A0hJWWB8VmVA#Echobox=1576573031

From the above article...

"The CBD and South East Light Rail, or CSELR, is taking on average 50 minutes to cover the distance compared with 26 minutes for the Sydney trams in the 1950s."

So... no, we haven't gone backwards, we've gone even FURTHER THAN BACKWARDS!

Thank you Fatty O'Barrell, Mike Baird, and Gladys Berejiklian for fixing the traffic problem in the city by making it worse.

Good one.

I was out in the city on the weekend and a mate was coming from Randwick or something on the tram to Wynyard. He said it was soooooo slow.

Then I saw footage on the news of why, because of pedestrians just walking around them like they are a parked car. Hopefully everyone gets used to them and they can speed up soon.

Trams aren't meant to be efficient form of transportation all the studies show is that they do increase shopping hub. The problem in Sydney is that they kill off all the business when they were building it.

The Toot says it best:

Exciting $2.96B Light Rail Briefly Distracts NSW From Fires Outmatching A $146.7M RFS Budget

CLANCY OVERELL | Editor | CONTACT

The people of New South Wales, all of whom appear to live between Randwick and Circular Quay are today enjoying brief reprieve from the bushfires that have been ravaging the outskirts of Sydney and mid-North coast.

This comes as the $2.9 billion CBD and South East light rail opened to the public for the first time on Saturday morning.

However, the tram network’s inaugural weekend was not without some very-NSW hiccups, breaking down at Circular Quay just a few hours after opening.

The breakdown saw services out of action for some 40 minutes after a tram stopped at a bend in the track just before 2pm, blocking lines in both directions.

However, according to Channel 9, the Sydney Morning Herald and 2GB, who are both owned by Channel 9 – and all of the Murdoch-owned media outlets – the ribbon-cutting was a riveting experience for the people of NSW, who want nothing more than new sporting stadiums and several incarnations of light rail transport that cost twenty times as much as the current RFS budget.

“It’s awesome!” says Debra, a single mother of two in emergency public housing in Port Macquarie because her family home in the mid-north Hinterland went from severely drought ravaged to bushfire kindle in a matter of one week.

“I know it’s like 1.6 billion dollars over budget, but I love knowing that my kids will be able to seamlessly travel between the race track and the casino when they finally receive the scholarships necessary for them to study in a metropolitan area”

“55 minutes from the city to Randwick, that’s pretty good”

“Almost makes up for the thousands of pubs that they closed to keep the Casino pumping”

In conjunction with lockout laws they have really killed off Sydney.

George Street was where people would cruise their cars Friday and sat sight, the cross was where you would go after every party.

Now tumbleweeds blow through Sydney at night time, even the homeless are hesitant to be there at night

Oh its a joke.
The other week I was waiting to meet my girlfriend to go to the movies.
From railway square to broadway shopping centre took her 35 minutes by cab and a $30 fare!

Fucking deadset joke!
Why do politicians keep thinking ground or underground?
We need to start looking up.

Build bypass roads, maglevs etc.

Time to pull down telegraph wiring!
Tesla said over 100 years ago that telegraph poles and wires are primitive.

Partially agree. I don't miss seeing hectic happy lappers in their sooped-up soap box billy carts, but I do agree that they killed off the night life this city has.

What's worse is that the lock-out laws and last drinks were so wrong, it wasn't funny. Why is it that licensed establishments had these laws in place, yet the casino was immune from them? Because the State Government is CORRUPT. That's why. Not doubt Tab-corp was paying them to keep the casino immune from these laws, otherwise they would've stood lose BILLIONS in revenue.

The good thing about Uber is you do not pay extra if you wait in traffic. Load up uber, get a fare estimate and if it is reasonable book the uber and then your fare will not be drastically higher than that estimate. Even if the driver takes some long route.

In my old job I used to walk from Railway Square to Broadway 2-3 times per week. It usually took me about 15 mins.

This is a self entitled foreign woman we are talking about here.

Walk?
They don't know how to do that.
She isn't from our generation my friend.
She expects to be chauffeured everywhere.

At any moment I'm going to severe the last thread and fly away free again!

Yeah mate, I used to do that as I was trying to reach 10,000 steps per day in STEPtember. I usually hit 11,000-13,000 - the walk to and from Broadway added about 5,000 to the tally. Generally speaking I try to aim for 10,000 daily - that was my personal Kaizen target.

In my previous jobs, I would walk around towards Pitt St Mall during lunchtime just to get out of the office and stretch my legs. Alas it was bloody hard for me to achieve this when I was working in Market Street which happens to sit directly on top of Pitt St Mall... I was lucky to hit 7,000 steps.

It’s for tourists
If that was the case, we could've kept the Monorail, or improved it. It would've been cheaper.

It was for the locals, it was an election strategy to make the stupid voters out there think that the Liberals were actually out doing something. Well... they were... but it was something that was not needed.

George st is way better now without the cars. The city with 0 cars throughout the CBD is the future.

And just how great is the traffic congestion outside of George St? It's worse than ever.

Think outside the box.
