We were paying Mbye 800K to play fullback not long ago. Mitchell's a much better investment for a couple of hundred grand more but no the club (and many on here) don't think it's important to have at least ONE game breaker who can create points from nothing. I think we could afford ONE especially when Foran's unlikely to play another game for us. Some on here actually suggested a player like Mitchell might unbalance our team. LOL Like we should just stick with average first graders. Yes that will win us heaps of games.

The only problem with your post here is: EVERYTHING.

1) You have no idea how active we are in the player market and that’s deliberate from the club. You’re shooting in the dark as usual.

2) You have no idea how we compare to other clubs on this measurement. Not a single club has announced a signing for 2021 that involves a club change (yet).

3) Tigers have not signed Mitchell (yet). No-one has.

4) Sure re: $1m. It’s called inflation. Same as the salary cap goes up each year. But at least for now that sort of money is for a spine player only - and someone who puts in 100% every week and is possibly future captain material. Mitchell ticks none of those boxes - he’s just trying to get himself in the spine so he can get the money and so far 16 clubs have said no. If the Tigers do it, good luck to them, I predict buyers remorse.

Eventually with a salary cap of $15m you’ll probably have two or three $1m players...

As I understand it, the first priority of the current management is to re-establish the junior development talent spotting and development structures that were successful but allowed to wither under the Des/Castle/Dibb triumvirate. I couldn't agree more. Then the second part of the strategy is to look a recruiting to fill a gap. Some players will be leaving at the end of the next season. No need to rush into the market at this point. At the start of last season signing players from other clubs left us with quite a few pretty ordinary footballers more than half of whom were on the list as second rowers, only one player listed as a center, a fullback who was really a centre and a half back with a broken body. Please save us from signing unneeded players at over their worth salaries.
