Firstly, Foran's comments about playing on was with the knowledge he would return playing in 2020.

Now with the latest news of two more operations required let's give him the benefit of the doubt for now and see what his response will be based on this.

Also, I am sure I heard correctly on the radio that there is a 'NEW' problem with the shoulder along with existing. So with this, there could be an argument from the Dogs to medically retire him (if Foran agree's) based on the new injury or at the very least further compensation over and above the current $350k.

None of this can happen though if Foran can't realise his days as a footy player are over.
Is it a similar injury tho? Same shoulder? It doesn't have to be exactly the same.

Is it really based on which region of the body is injured and not the specific injury? That’s fucked if so.
The shoulder is the most complex joint in the body with so many structures that can be injured.

350k compensation is a farce but in reality, that's all Foran should have been signed for in the first place. Never has there been a more corrupt and negligent signing...

Of course if Cam Smith, Tedesco or Cook was injured on rep duty watch how quickly that rule would change effective immediately so that they get their full salary compensated. But for us, it will of course stay as is..

Either way, as he requires two surgeries this can and will be argued as a new injury and therefore he should be medically retired. But if Foran would rather delude himself into thinking he can play on and if he doesn't want to go down that path, then he would fuck the club one last time.

I saw a quote by another user on this thread saying it can't be a similar injury. A page or two back I think. It's a grey area tbh.

Foran is one of the best Five-Eighth's in the game when fit. He was back then when we signed him and he still is now. We took a risk that his injuries wouldn't be recurring and that he was unlucky. We now know how that panned out. You shouldn't blame the player ever, blame the people who made the decision to sign him. For Foran this is more then just one year with us. Mentally he still wants to go around again and if he's 'medically retired' he can't be registered again.

Nothing stopping him retiring now on medical grounds , and then coming out of retirement in 2021 if he feels he has recovered and wants to play on and another club want to sign him.

There is no way he'd be allowed to return. 100% not to the NRL.

Yeah gotta love the nosepickers on here having a crack at Foran for not doing the ‘honourable’ thing and walking away from his $1M+ contract. Wonder what they’d do in the same situation.

The club fucked up with this contract. He can do as he pleases.

1: He's never fit. Plenty of us knew this was a shocking signing to a three year deal at that price for a player who has always been so injury prone.

2: I don't blame him for signing a deal worth 5 times his value. I blame the club.

3: I do blame Foran for not retiring when it's the best thing for him mentally, physically and for the club he just screwed over by playing in a Test months after his last club game that led to the injury.

4: I understand that. That's where Foran deserves criticism. If he wants to limp on in 2021 and injure himself with another club then so be it, but obviously he opens himself up to the scorn of the fan base for eating up 1/8th of our salary cap while he rehabs a whole year for the trilionth time.

But he'll still get paid, either through insurance or the club. The tricky bit is whether it'll count against next year's cap.

He'd get paid in full if he was medically retired.

If he wants to play on, how much will another club give him next season once he's in "the best shape of his life" like every other year? 120k? Is it worth it for him at this point?

Does he have one shred of remorse for putting himself and not his long term health or the club first when playing in the Test match in the first place?

And how did the club let him play in the first place when he's a walking injury?

If he does not agree to retire or be medically retired, it proves to me that all the talk that he loves our club was TOTAL, COMPLETE AND UTTER BULL SHIT.
For most of his tenure here I thought that Hasler did not have his heart in our club, it was proven beyond any doubt when all the back ended contracts became known, the same with Cleal and his recruitment.
Foran will never get another contract in a major Competition, our club should tell him that, perhaps Hasler could tell him that too. he may get a micky-mouse bush contract for real peanuts, which would be financial stupidity for him.
If the NRL wont agree to medically retire him, so that we can get FULL FULL FULL cap dispensation for 2020, I just hope that our club grows some balls and takes the matter to court, because if they (the NRL) think that he can play again, they are failing in their duty of care for him big time.
Us die-hard Bulldogs should never forget the contribution the Manly contingent has made to our club, because I certainly wont.

You whinge about the club not being able to sign players like Latrell then want the club to ban them playing in cash cow rep games....
Geex then no one at all would sign with us!
