Anyone read the Buzz item in the paper today regarding rorting the medical retirement system. Of course it mentions Canterbury with a sly dig at a medical retirement for Foran.

Also has a dig at Greenberg and his favourite team the rabbits....

Honestly you can't fault Foran for trying it is just now going to be another issue for the club to deal with. No preseason yet again for Foran and the possibility of him missing games for us meaning we cant establish our future pairing in the halves because sure as eggs once he is able to play he will be picked regardless of how we are travelling...Please retire already...
Hey @dogluva, would enjoy a read of it, don't have subscription access though, can anyone help out?

Agree mate. Will never hate on the bloke
Not even when he knows his using 1.2 mil of the clubs cap which in return probably adds to loss of revenue because of the losses on the footy field which in return makes us all very emotionally unstable??

Fuck me sideways! Who picks up the medical bills for all this shit, we could have built Steve Austin by now for cheaper.
USD$6M It's about AUD$8.67M at today's conversion rate.

Probably not far off.

Unfortunately we have invested too much in him the last 2 years to not try to get some return from him this year nothing to gain with him not playing even half the year hence the club trying to fix him this year

The NRL will allow clubs to sign replacement players for stars injured in representative games as soon as this year's State of Origin series in the latest salary cap shake-up.

In a move that would have allowed the Raiders to draft in cover for England star Josh Hodgson, who was hurt in last year's World Cup, clubs will now be compensated for long-term injuries suffered by their marquee men while on Test, Origin or All-Stars duty.

Compensation: Clubs could get salary cap relief for players injured during representative matches.

League Central will offer salary cap exemption on a dollar-for-dollar basis to players who will be sidelined for 12 weeks or more up to a value of $350,000 from next month when the Origin series begins in Melbourne.

Amidst a wave of lobbying from some clubs fearful of losing their biggest assets while they earn higher honours with little return, the NRL has tried to break down some of that resistance with its latest proposal.

The plan was presented to club bosses at Tuesday's chief executives conference in Sydney and will need to be signed off at the next Australian Rugby League Commission meeting on June 7.

Our clubs Shoulder surgeon is a guy named John Trantalis. He will undergo a latarjet procedure (google it) and will be back to full contact in February next year if they operate early next week.
So what would happen if this "Dr Trantalis" went "missing"? Could we then medically retire Foran? Asking for a friend...

Probably the best half in the game when hes healthy. Hel prob sign somewhere else and stay on the field knowing our luck.
We guna need to buy a dominant half for 21. Cant see any of the young halves stepping up that much

No mate, it’s not like he’s slacking off and not doing the hard yards (T-Rex, Woods etc). He has put everything into getting back in the field and doing these injuries playing the hardest he can to and always has.
This last injury could very well see the end of him though in a Dogs jersey.
He’s only 29 years old, we need to remember that. What ever the diagnosis comes back as this week will probably determine where he’s at.

Long story short, I’ll never bag a bloke for putting in everything he can to perform, he has never half assed himself while with us. Do I think his times up with the physical side of football yes I do. But that’s his decision to make, like anywhere your a long time retired.
Time for him to get into football in the coaching ranks.

X-rays have revealed Canterbury Bulldogs five-eighth Kieran Foran requires a shoulder reconstruction and will be sidelined for a minimum six months.

However the veteran playmaker is refusing to even discuss retirement and is determined to make it back for the Bulldogs around May next year in the best case scenario.

He will undergo surgery on Thursday. Foran was hurt in a tackle on Great Britain front-rower James Graham in the Test match in New Zealand on Saturday.

The news is a shocking blow to the Bulldogs hopes next season.

Foran has averaged only 13 games per season over the last four years at the Parramatta Eels, the Warriors and the Bulldogs.

It is the same shoulder that required surgery in 2016.

Wonder how much he has cost us beyond his salary cap in medical costs?

Not even discussing retirement shows you how stubborn he is. At his stage of his career and the injuries he’s had he should at least be putting some thought to going down that track.

If he seriously won’t talk about retirement the dudes taking the piss of the club.

It’s where I agree with whoever said ok, rush back for nsw cup. You aren’t worried about the club so you can finish in reserves.

J Turbo and Fonua-Blake are having shoulder reconstructions tomorrow as well and are only expected to miss the opening rounds but I’m guessing Foran’s is more complicated as it’s his second one.

Surely theres a hard conversation with him. Hes let us down every year. I wish he was able to play without injury because we would be a far better side but we would be better off without him. Sign him onto the coaching staff. His leadership and knowledge would help support the young playmakers
