Ok so simple question, Should Foran retire whether it's medically or just himself calling it a day ASAP?

We all know that he doesn't have to etc etc but let's see the stats on this.

I think he's got to personally... I won't be pissed as a fan if he tries to play on.... but it must be frustrating as hell putting all that work in, to come back for a few games at a time

Yes its time for him to go. Too many injuries. Hec at times, I have forgotten he plays for us because he is always on the sidelines. I would keep on him on to be a halves coach and mentor, Lewis, Cogger, Wakeham, etc.

It doesn’t really matter what we want. Going from the reports Foran doesn’t want to retire and the club is supporting it so we might as well just forget about it.

No.

What’s the point of retiring him now with 1 year on his contract? Even if we did get cap dispensation through a medical retirement, it’s too late now to find any sort of quality replacement.

It’s a signing that should never have happened in the first place but at this point we’re stuck with him.

Let’s get him right for round 1 and pray to god he can stay on the field for at least 75% of the season. If we can get some decent footy out of him then we’re a big chance of playing finals footy.

You can hope all you want but it’s been proven for the past 4 seasons that getting anything close to 75% of the season in playing time just isn’t going to happen.

Because if we don't have him retire don't rule out the possibility of our club being dumb enough to sign him again lol

He should have years ago. If he didn't after all of the other injuries and personal issues, then he never will. We're stuck with him and his absurd contract for another year.

Foran coming in and out of the team whenever he decides he's fit enough to play just constantly disrupts the team and hinders the development and confidence of the other halves in Wakeham, Cogger, Averillo and Lewis etc..

He played well last season in the games he played but I and plenty others are just done with him and have been for years. This should be the final nail in the coffin of his painful and frustrating time at the club, but unfortunately it won't be. Instead it will be just more proof of what a fraudulent and shady deal it was in the first place...

We've come 13th and 12th in the two years he's played with us so please don't anyone suggest we're a finals bound club with him in the team.

I'm voting no.
I highly doubt we'd get his salary taken out of the cap due to the previous reco on that shoulder.

We're better off getting the rep injury 350k salary cap allowance and get someone in, rehab Foz and use him as a halves coach. If he gets fit by the end of the year and gets a farewell game so be it.

Also shows perspective signings that we look after our own.

Yep - key word: hope. What’s your better solution though?

We are zero chance of replacing him with any quality/experience to our squad for next season.

Surely it’s worth at least trying to get something out of him on the field. Worst case - his injury run continues and our young halves have a mentor/leader figure to aid their development.

We have absolutely nothing to gain at this point in time from retiring him.

Hopefully the back end of the season when we make a push for finals footy... Hopefully

We won’t replace him with the exact same type of player but having over a million freed up in the cap would be a massive bonus. I don’t agree at all that we couldn’t improve the squad with that money between now and the start of the season.

We will be using the young halves regardless if Foran is here or not and having him come in and out of the team is more of a distraction then anything.

It’s all a moot point anyway because all signs point to him staying around.

Who do people want to replace him with assuming that we can only get players off contract? or would you run with Lewis and Wakeham (or Cogger). Who would be 6 and 7?

He needs to think about how all these injuries and possible future injuries are going to impact him for the rest of his life. He's going to be getting around like a 70yo at 40. His family is well off apparently plus you would think he's saved a few dollars because he's been paid very well over the last 10 years. He should become our halves coach. If he can teach Lewis, Cogger and Wakeham how to read a defensive line on the fly for a weakness then he won't be missed that much on the field.
