Saw this much,

Key points of the proposal include:

  • Clubs to receive a salary cap exemption for the pro-rata value of the injured player’s contract, up to a maximum of $350,000;
  • There is no limit on the number of players from each club entitled to salary cap relief if they suffer a long term injury in a representative match;
  • If the club has a place left in their Top 30 squad, the injured player must be ruled out for a minimum of 12 matches and cannot make an early return, and;
  • If the club does not have a roster spot left, they can sign a 31st player but the injured player must be ruled out for the season.

Not a great outcome, leaves a shortfall of 600-700k, not sure what the situation is with medical retirement is, can you exclude the players entire salary or do they make it up as they go?

If the club is run by professionals they will immediately start looking at signing a healthy 5/8th to contest the premiership.... We can no longer rely on Foran being fit or it will be another wasted year with out a half..
Lol at all those who said he should be resigned for 2 years....Honestly I know we are desperate for a quality half but seriously what the ful... Lind Freddy could see his body has had it

It all depends on how much damage occurred when it popped out. He could need a reconstruction which would be 3-6 months.
Who cares what damage ,the club need to piss him off,we have paid this guy 3 mill the last 3 years,for what 16 games,that's real value for money,how can u feel sorry for someone earning 22k a week,sitting on the sidelines ?

Same shoulder he had rebuilt at Parra, but on the positive Wakeham looks really at home at 7 for fiji
Foran's injury playing for NZ, is certainly a blessing in disguise, used to laugh when some on here were painting him as if was going to play out all 2020 injury free and be our star play maker, I would have bet that he was not going to play 5 games before another long stint in the side lines.
Ahh,hindsight makes everyone a genius

Well the club just can’t piss him off. The club got themselves in this mess giving a player with his injury history a 3 year deal on big bucks.

Yes you can, you can’t medically retire on a pre-existing injury
The insurance company will not doubt say it was related to his shoulder reco he previously had if it was the same shoulder? The fact our club signed him with his injury history is absolutely disgraceful. Thank god they are gone

Firstly, some on here having pot shots at Foran for getting injured. Feel for the guy as he always puts in and didn't come here to sit back and simply ride the wave like some of the others that have come.

In saying that, clearly now we need to do something drastic to move on from him as we can't rely on him at all. Medically retire? Not going to happen. We can all dream but ... not going to happen. Hopefully the Toronto club signs him up?

I think you could successfully argue that it’s a new injury seeing as he had been playing for 3 years since the reconstruction without a dislocation. It will depend on what injury he actually has.

Hopefully. Knowing insurance companies it could drag on a bit but if it’s more than a 12 week injury we’ll have another 1.2 in the kitty in the meantime. Thankfully it’s happened now and in a rep game

It's a shame he is always injured or can't be retired as a consequence
Yeah...a shoulder dislocation without surgery is 12 to 16 weeks so that's the whole pre-season.
Foran's three seasons with the club have & will be basically a write off due to injury.

Going into the 2020 season and assuming Foran will miss plenty of matches we have a rookie no.9, rookie halves & a fullback who while he runs fast and hard is not a ball playing fullback.

Same old question, where are points going to come from?

Yeah it’s very early days once the injury gets diagnosed we will know more. Are you talking about the rep injury compensation with more then 12 weeks? They only pay a maximum of $350k for that so we are going to be left massively out of pocket with that.

Ok if it is career ending yes, but there has to be a lot of medical treatment to confirm the player cannot recover from the injury to be match fit.

Yes you are correct QBE has rejected claims for medical retirement based on pre-existing degenerative injury.

I guess my point is the insurance underwriter will not agree to a medical retirement until all medical treatment including rehab.

Y not medically retire him,Sam burgess signed a new contract,with a preexisting shoulder injury,Souths were aware of that fact,,Ben Matulino,had knee injuries while with the warriors,foran has done the same shoulder with us twice now,on top of toe injuries,wrist injuries etc etc,nothing personal against the guy,but the club comes first

At some stage the greater good has to be thought of. If he cares anything at all about this club he will see if he can medically retire, if it's a NO then he must retire himself. Either way he will still see his money. IF he does not then he can get fucked! I have always held the guy in massive regard and I feel for him more than I can say, I really do but he must take the hit for the team, club and fans and retire! He is taking up over 10% of our cap and plays fuk all, it's time to call it old mate I'm sorry. If you remain then you have lost me.
