Having this happen now is a blessing in disguise it would be a lot worse if he did it in the early rounds and missed the season. We have time to sort a replacement and they get a full off season of training in sorting out combos. Let’s just wait and see the extent of the injury first but with Foran they never seem to be minor.
You are right it would of been worse in the regular season but still feels a bit disappointing
He didn’t have to play especially knowing his track history with injuries and how many games he has missed for us
Recovery is never easy

Waiting for the people who thought Foran was a lot better footballer than Sam Burgess.

Yeah mate there’s never a good time but if it had to happen now is the best time. I get the feeling if it’s a full reconstruction he’s going to pull the pin but let’s see what happens.

Very sad to see. I hope he retires now.
I had a chat with him at the airport and he was pumped for the season. Walks like an old man though. He didn’t hold a gun to Hasler & Dib for that contract though and you can never blame someone for playing for their country

100 % . If this happened in round 1 it would have been so much more disruptive

Foran lost me when he agreed to play for NZ. Once again putting his own ego ahead of the club. After all that the dogs have done for him he should have declined the offer and stayed as healthy as he could for club duties. But not Foran. Just get rid of him.

Someone talking sense at last...
The question is...Will the National Rorting League allow his medical retirement ?
If not...The Bulldogs should offer him a coaching job based on him retiring !!!

Remember they brought in a compensation thing for Rep games, how does this play out?

Foran's injury playing for NZ, is certainly a blessing in disguise, used to laugh when some on here were painting him as if was going to play out all 2020 injury free and be our star play maker, I would have bet that he was not going to play 5 games before another long stint in the side lines.

Surprised the **** didn't injure himself during the Haka
one would think 80% of the damage was done in the Haka for an ordinary tackle to do that to him!

100%. His reputation will go south and a few new nicknames will be coming his way. I know players want to play for their country ..but his loyalty to his meal ticket club was compromised by playing (with his horrific injury record). We've paid him all that money and he's only played 40%? of games for the club.

So critical now that his legacy is not trashed.
Whatever he is worth - he should accept 50% of that given he does not play 50% anyway!

No clue how it works
Saw this much,

Key points of the proposal include:

  • Clubs to receive a salary cap exemption for the pro-rata value of the injured player’s contract, up to a maximum of $350,000;
  • There is no limit on the number of players from each club entitled to salary cap relief if they suffer a long term injury in a representative match;
  • If the club has a place left in their Top 30 squad, the injured player must be ruled out for a minimum of 12 matches and cannot make an early return, and;
  • If the club does not have a roster spot left, they can sign a 31st player but the injured player must be ruled out for the season.

Can't medically retire on a new injury.
