Cronulla star Josh Dugan has reportedly been embroiled in an ugly nightclub incident during an off-season fishing trip to Airlie Beach in far north Queensland.

The Daily Telegraph said the Sharks centre was with a group of friends who were involved in a punch-up at Boom Nightclub on Thursday night before being kicked out by a bouncer.

Dugan was personally involved in the melee, according to witnesses cited by The Telegraph, and had to be calmed by security.

Potentially making matters worse for Dugan, he failed to report the incident to his club or the NRL integrity unit.

The paper said the entire fracas was captured on CC TV and that another scuffle later erupted outside the nightclub.

While acknowledging there was a fight, Dugan would only say he was attempting to stop a situation involving his future father-in-law and brother-in-law from escalating.

“There was an altercation with his future father-in-law and brother-in-law and Josh removed them from the situation to defuse it,” said Paul Sutton, Dugan’s manager.

Referring to Dugan’s reluctance to speak, Sutton indicated his client didn’t feel a need “to defend himself.”

However, one onlooker claimed the melee was “messy” and “there were people everywhere.”

“Dugan and security went at it,” he told The Telegraph. “It will be there for all to see on CCTV.”

THE NRL integrity was unaware of the incident as of Friday night but are set to investigate on Saturday. Meanwhile, Sharks officials are still trying to contact Dugan to find out exactly what happened.

Dugan was in Queensland with mates away from football at the Great Barrier Reef. He had posted photos of his trip on Instagram.

The Sharks aren’t due back to training for another three weeks. In 2017, Dugan signed a four-year deal at Shark Park worth a reported $3m, so he has two years left on the contract.

Earlier this offseason, Melbourne Storm forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona was hit with a three-game ban and suspended fine for his role in a wild brawl outside a Bali nightclub.

This one has been kept quiet. Possibly nothing in it....

How convenient for the Sharks, now they have a reason to end his contract if he was fighting as he is not wanted by the Sharks anyway. Free up the money for Noodles to play with them.

Well it says he was only trying to stop the fight but we'll need to see the vision to be sure.

Lol, who knows but I guess the sharks will get a free pass and a good excuse to offer him up or end terms.

On that it would take nothing to arrange that. Give a couple of dudes $250 to go pick a fight with your unwanted player and the rest is history!

REPORTS: Dugan’s Sharks career in limbo
The Sharks are reportedly considering terminating Josh Dugan’s contract.

Cronulla are reportedly considering tearing up Josh Dugan’s contract for 2020, following an incident in Queensland during a holiday last weekend.

According to WWOS’ The Mole, Dugan was involved in an altercation at a pub, with CCTV footage reportedly “not looking good” for the 29-year-old.

It won’t be the first time the Sharks tore up the contract of a big-name player, with Todd Carney sacked from the club back in 2014 after a photo went viral of him online.

However, Carney went on to sue the Sharks for wrongful dismissal, and went on to win an undisclosed payment in court.

Cronulla has reportedly been shopping Dugan to other clubs for 2020, so this could be the out they were looking for.

LOOOOOL.

Called it in my first post. It's funny how all these teams are getting "help" to get rid of players to free up money. You got this situation and the Burgess situation all lining up nicely for them.

I'm waiting for the call that we should sign him when he's sacked.
