SAINTS MOVE TO SHUT DOWN PROP TALK
St Helens have rubbished reports they could let star props Luke Thompson and Alex Walmsley leave to join Canterbury before their contracts end.
A recent Daily Telegraph report said Bulldogs chief executive Andrew Hill had travelled to England to have a meeting with the duo who starred in the Red V’s Super League grand final win over Salford.
Walmsley had an opportunity to come to the NRL before he signed a long-term deal with the club, while Thompson has also been attracting attention from South Sydney in recent months.
St Helens CEO Mike Rush said the pair were going nowhere.
“There is nothing in it,” Rush told UK publication League Weekly.
“I don’t know where the Walmsley story has come from because he’s contracted for another three years, and Thommo is contracted to the end of next year.”
