why are you acting like phones make a difference? like piers morgan was attacking the protesters for going to mcdonalds

the only thing that needs to happen is no more coal power plants and use better cars, you can still use your phone, keep your lights on all night, have 5 screens going, eat 50 double quarter pounders, use your fridge and kerri anne can still use her vibrator

Because they do... everything counts in large amounts!

Coal and oil are used to make plastics, you switch to nuclear power and you will have the same protesters complaining about that.
Simple solution shoot the protesters

I've no issues with protesting.
Regulations preventing it are absolutely fucked up.
Yet FFS, if you're going to protest, aim it at those that matter, not those that have nil power to enact policy change.
Block the Eastern Suburbs and North Shore, where the majority of the elite live, not the average Joe, just trying their best to survive day by day!
Or block parliament entirely so the fuckers can't get out!

simple solution, listen to the protesters and switch to clean energy, then all the devices suddenly don't have a carbon footprint anymore

don't worry about the coal industry workers tbh, its ok these things happen, all the sailors on the ships had to find something else when they developed planes and all the blockbuster video workers had to move on when Netflix came

I support switching to clean energy but there's one thing you have to keep in mind. 51% of our economic exports are coal. Without that we're looking at a huge economic drop. And that will happen eventually. Coal will become a thing of the past and the Australian economy will suffer major damage.

We can combat it though. We have plenty of rare earth elements including Uranium and we have plenty of land for renewables. There's no reason we can't export stored energy.

What people forget, is there are a few grades of coal.
Coal for energy and coking coal for metal production.
One will still be required.
Also, as above, uranium is in large deposits here, yet we would be stupid to sell it.
We should be taking other countries waste and utilise it as a fuel source in the latest generation reactors, which iirc, reduce it to 5% of it's original waste mass/size, thus we get paid shit loads to solve another countries problem and get energy from it too.
But hurr nukelar scary, derp mentality within the general masses prevents it.
Most folks don't understand a whole lot about nuclear energy and rely upon sensationalist profit driven media for their 'facts'.
Also, the more volatile the radioactive item, the shorter the half life, thus the quicker it declines to a relatively inert state!
Just plain soil or a body of water is enough to block alpha, beta and most of the gamma radiation.
Put it this way, depending upon the depth, I'd swim in the water above a reactor core!

Well I couldn't go to work. It was a mandatory day off (which meant the building was closed and locked down with no way in). Ironically, the protests that were happening were right down stairs in front of my building here in the CBD.
8 hour day
annual leave
sick leave
weekends
redundancy pay
public holidays
minimum wage

Give them up, since you're so against protesting

Get a job, hippy!
Pffffft why would I need a job ffs?

The millions I'm getting from newstart allows me to live in both the inner west and eastern suburbs, while having copious amounts of soy lattes and avocado on toast and then having nothing better to do but protest while being a nancy and violent at the same time.

Living the dream in a socialist world comrade!

The pests are at it again today causing havoc in Melbourne and Brisbane. I wish I was there... those that chain themselves to a fixed object will be rendered useless when I poke them in the eye :kissingheart:
